This was my first trip to Duluth and it was great! We were greeted in baggage claim at the Duluth Airport by the shuttle driver from the Sheraton. He remembered my colleagues who had recently been there and greeted them like old friends. We arrived at the hotel and again my colleagues were welcomed back as if they were VIP's. The rooms were probably the nicest of any Sheraton I've stayed in. They were large, spotless, updated/modern decor, and a huge desk stretched across the large window that faced Lake Superior.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake.

Stayed on Club level on two different occasions. The property is nice. Free parking available in parkade behind the hotel. Club level rooms are comfortable and meets expectations for space and cleanliness. However one of the advantages of being on club level is the lounge that offers free appetizers and continental breakfast. If you came 30 minutes before happy hour or breakfast time was up, you would find very slim pickings. They do not re-stock the food but allow it to dwindle away which means there is only one piece of bread (dried out) and one shrunken mini eggroll. Sheraton, if you're going to offer appetizers and breakfast as part of the higher cost of a room, then treat your patrons better and properly stock food until closing time.

Thank you for your feedback. Your feedback is something we take to heart and see as an opportunity to grow and change. We want you to feel special and experience the benefits of the club lounge. Please know the experience of the club lounge which you had has been shared with the Executive Chef, Food and Beverage Manager and our servers. The next time you stay, we would love to hear from you personally to learn if you see the changes we've made. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide us with constructive feedback which we can use as an opportunity for growth.

As stated with my three stars, my stay was fair.
Reservations and front desk were not a problem.
That all was very smooth and they were extremely nice.

Pros:
Beautiful lobby, spacious rooms, very clean. So house keeping is doing their part.
Very beautiful restaurant. Nice bar.
Downtown Duluth, near the lake. close to the canal and a lot of things to do and eat near by.
Great views if you pick the right rooms.
Wrong room looks at parking ramps.
No in room hot tubs, which is a drag.

Cons:
Restaurant:
Nothing like any of the 7 Sheraton's that we have been to.
This is what brought it down from 5 stars to 3 stars.
Their is no host or manager to be found. Bar tender sometimes there and could help us if he wasn't to busy tending the bar. (couple nights that was also our server)
We ate 5 diners out of the 7 nights we where their.
A server sat five of us to dine. The same server also was our server.
Then we found out that they were the only server and they were not always there when we needed them. This poor girl was waiting on 6 other tables and gone half of the time. Later we found out that she was also doing room service and a banquet. We were all like WOW! Sounds like your employer is abusing you and we are the ones suffering. Since, we are spending money for a five star restaurant, but getting 3 star service. I do not see this restaurant lasting if it continues to run this way. They must go through employees often. We asked to speak with the manager to voice our complaints on how under staffed the restaurant is and why he is not helping, and how long we had to wait for everything and she could not find him. She apologized and said she does not have any control over this and she is doing her best. She agreed that a host and a manger is differently needed all the time. Which was quite obvious. I could not do all that myself. I sit behind a pretty desk all day.
It is supposed to be a five Star restaurant. The food was 4-5 stars.

All of the restaurants we ate at that week we were in Duluth. They all had hosts and active management that we could see all of the time. These were all 3 star restaurants/bars. That is funny. A sports bar with a host and managers that we could talk to at any time.

Over all a great stay and would recommend it.
The restaurant hopefully will be improved in time for our next business outing to Duluth.

If you want to visit the charms of the North Shore without the unknowns of renting a cabin, the Sheraton Duluth Hotel is exactly what you are looking for. You still get a cozy feel but you get the added convenience of a free parking garage and comfortable lodging.

This hotel has a nicely redone workout room. It is walking distance from Fitgers and there is a cute Irish pub across the street. If you have kids, there is a small pool next to the fitness center and it has a tiny hot tub too. If you want to go visit the Aerial Lift Bridge and the free Maritime Museum in Canal Park, the dive is super short. Don't forget to drive across the Aerial Lift Bridge and go all the way down Park Point to the tiny Sky Harbor Airport at the end. There you can park your car and walk over the dunes to the shores of Lake Superior.

I travel for business, so I was able to get an upgrade to a suite which was FABULOUS. Room 616 is a great suite with perfect views of Lake Superior from both rooms, a jacuzzi tub, and an electric fireplace. This would be a great place for a romantic weekend getaway, or for a comfortable room for a family of four.

This hotel is the perfect place to stay snug inside all day or to use as a home base to explore Duluth. The two BEST places to go eat are the Duluth Grill and Scenic Cafe. The Scenic Cafe is about 15 miles up the North Shore. It is a lovely drive and the food is fantastic.

Remember that Duluth is a great city to visit in ANY season, even Winter.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, a suite is worth it! I recommend the room we had - 616 - or anything on that side facing Lake Superior.

Stayed two nights on a business trip to Duluth. The cappuccino machine in the bar/breakfast area was out of order, the walk to Starbucks took 20minutes. Breakfast took forever to get to the table (even though there were only 4 customers in the room) and standard coffee was macdonald's grade. The Ironing board in the room collapsed when I attempted to use it. All of this is OK but at $158/night I would expect better. Beds were comfortable, room temperature was adjustable and internet was free (shocking) --breakfast was not. I did not think that the parking garage was that bad... though it was difficult to find in the first round.

Room Tip: No view in rooms at the 3rd floor--demand higher floors!
