The name of this attraction is actually Wheel FUN Rentals, not Wheel Run. It's located in Canal Park near the lighthouse, right off the lakeshore path. The rental office is housed in a little white building with lots of surrey bikes outside. You can't miss it:-).
We rented the four person surrey bike, which was $30 for one hour. Even though it was a four person it worked fine for the five of us (two adults, three kids). The bike seats are bench seats so we just sat three across in the back. There were spots for four of us to pedal. Although there's two steering wheels in the front, only the one on the left actually steers the bike. The bike has a canopy over it so riders are blocked from the sun.
I thought the bike was suprisingly easy to pedal. My kids (ages 11,11,9) loved pedaling it. It was also really easy to steer. It was a bit tricky to turn it completely around on the lakeshore path. The bike was very sturdy and I never worried about it tippinng over.
When we rented it, the employee at Wheel Run gave us instructions on how to ride it. She also recommended we turn around on the lakeshore path once we reached Fitger's, as after that there were a few big hills. We did as she suggested and turned at Fitger's. In the other direction, we rode down a little past the aerial bridge before turning around. I did see a few surrey bikes as far down as the aqaurium. We also rode it out to the lighthouse. You do have to really watch for other people as it's such a busy area. The ramp to get to the lighthouse and that section of the lakeshore path is on the northeast side of the parking lot (ride right through the lot). We had a hard time finding the ramp at first and had to ask the bike rental people.
The surrey bike was a really fun and unique activity to do. We all enjoyed it.
