“Minnesota Experience”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

I live in Duluth and see Lake Superior frequently as I move about town, but my wife and I enjoy just taking a drive up the Scenic North Shore Drive. As soon as you leave the city, you are immediately in the North Woods and the views do not stop all the way to Canada. The lake may be peaceful and deep blue one day and the next it may be frothing with raging waves crashing against the shoreline. Either way, the lake brings out an emotional experience of awe and wonder. There are occasional overlooks where one may stop to take photographs. There are places where one may stop and hop onto the Lake Superior Hiking Trail, if you want to stretch your legs. There are a number of fine restaurants available along this scenic drive as well.

“God's Country”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

You can't go wrong on a drive up the North Shore of Lake Superior. Motels, restaurants, towns to visit, places to go down to the lake and pick agates. Split Rock Lighthouse. Beaver Bay is the oldest town on the shore. Grand Marais has many great places to check out--and it's right on the lake. In the winter there's Lutsen Resort for skiing, or riding the ski lift in the fall to see the beautiful leaves along the saw tooth mountains.

“This drive is a part of MN you don't want to miss!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

The scenic North Shore is something you don't want to miss. All along the shore there are great places to eat such as: The Scenic Cafe, Emily's, ect. The resorts are wonderful. There is so much to do that is free. Hiking, biking, picnicing, discovering, agate hunting, canoeing, and more. Discover Palisades, and the Superior Hiking Trail. To me, this is paradise. Start in Duluth and enjoy what this town has to offer and then head up the shore for that perfect vacation.

Reviewed November 21, 2013

I spent a week driving up the north shore, enjoying the sights and sounds!!! Absolutely was an Amazing week....took my time and stopped at most of the state parks along the way and hiked to a lot of waterfalls. I have been vacationing in Minnesota for many years and it never ceases to impress me.

“Beautiful Drive”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

The scenic drive stretches from just north of Duluth to Two Harbors (22 miles?) but actually the beauty of the shore takes you all the way to Canada. There are some nice hotels along the way: Lutsen, Bluefin Bay, etc., which also have their own nice restaurants. There are countless State Parks as well and an abundance of fishing, bald eagles and wildlife. If you like to hike, two gems right off the shore are Oberg Mountain and Eagle Mountain (highest point in MN). Both offer breathtaking views always, but especially when fall colors are peaking. There is Split Rock Lighthouse, Palisade Head (be careful), Tettegouche, etc. Grand Marais is also a gem. Lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. The Dockside Fish Market (just down the hill on the right) offers good fresh fish as well as a variety of smoked. Take a drive up the side of the hill for another beautiful view. You can continue all the way to Canada if you like, with little gems all along the way. I have hiked and driven the shore countless times, and it never fails to calm my soul.
