“Drive up the North Shore of Lake Superior”

Ranked #1 of 95 things to do in Duluth
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 26, 2013

We really enjoyed our trip up the North Shore. We saw several sights on our way up from Duluth to our motel in Grand Marais and back. We also traveled on up to the Canadian border. We had great food: great lunch at the Camp 61 in Beaver Bay and great lunch at My Sister's Place and pizza supper at Swen and Ole's both in Grand Marais! Artist Point was the highlight for us in Grand Marais. Neat scenery--and we built rock formations to add to the beauty of the shore! It was beautiful sightseeing up 61 and glad we made the trip! The Inn at Lake Superior on the Canal in Duluth, Minn., was an excellent place to stay! As we made our way north, we didn't make all the stops we wanted to but did make time for Palisade Head, High Falls (Grand Portage State Park), and the falls at the Temperance River.

Breathtaking views during this drive, this is a must to see Lake Superior. The drive has many places to stop and shop, or eat. You can catch views of ships on the lake. In the fall this drive is even more beatiful with the changing of the leaves. A must for everyone!!

This drive is an annual event for our family. No matter the season, the views of Lake Superior are amazing. Plenty of places to stop and the parks are a treat on their own. Would recommend to all.

Minnesota's own ocean-view experience, without the hurricanes. All of Superior's many moods are fascinating to see as you travel from Duluth to Canada. We make the drive often, as we have a cabin near Lutsen, and we always love the experience.

Reminds me of the Maine coast. A number of scenic places, parks and interesting places to explore. Check out the parks and food places.
