We have stayed at The Inn a number of times over the years and the friendliness of the staff has always been good, but was at an even higher level this time. The location right on the water and near the lift bridge is perfect. Breakfast is kept stocked with some changes each day for variety. Smores in the evening by the lakeside are a hit with our kids - and us! This hotel can be pricey at times due to demand. Try to stay during the week or quickly book specials as weekend rates are high. We take several trips a year to different places and states. This is one of the better run facilities we stay at. Hope to be back again sometime next year!

Room Tip: In our opinion lakeside rooms when available are worth the extra cost as the views are great and lov...

Spent three nights at the Inn in August. When I tried to book the room on line there was nothing availble. I called the hotel direct and had no problem getting a room. The desk staff was friendly. We had a lake view room on the third floor. Nice balcony with a view of the canal and could watch the ships come in to the harbor. The room was clean. The AC was a bit noisy but it was cool enough that we were able to leave our patio door open and allow the fresh lake air blow in. Bugs were not a problem. Bridge view rooms were more a view of the parking lot so would suggest the few extra dollars for the lake view. Breakfast was good for hotel continental - eggs, sausage, waffel, fresh fruit, juice, milk and a variety of cereal. Located very close to all resturants and bars. The refrigerator in the room was nice to keep beverages cool or left over food from the evening meal. Smores on the patio was a nice touch. The place is dog friendly and it was very evident by the number of dogs roaming the grounds but it seemed like everyone brought their dog to walk the boardwalk so I guess whatever suits your fancy. The indoor pool seemed to be popular with families. We never did go to the rooftop outside pool. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Third floor had the best views. Ground floor had direct outside access but seemed like they would b...

We wanted to stay on Lake Superior and there is no better place than the Canal Park area of Duluth. We were greeted by a friendly check in process and found the large room well decorated complete with complimentary water and soft drinks! The bed was comfortable and the over all condition of the room and hotel was good to great. We thought the breakfast buffet was well done with plenty of staff to keep things stocked and clean. A nice touch was the "Breakfast on the go" bags offerd to those unable to stay for the meal. We got a good rate as we stayed on a Sunday night. You might call the front desk in the afternoon if you want to try for a deal. We did and we certainly hope to return to this property. Great staff who really like their customers!

Room Tip: City view rooms are much cheaper if cost is a concern.

My family and I have been to Duluth many times, but never stayed at this hotel. We took a last minute trip to the North Shore before school started and were lucky enough to get a room in Canal Park on short notice. We booked through Expedia, as the hotel's website did not show any available rooms. I know this is a common hotel practice.

The hotel was busy, but that didn't effect our stay. The room was nice, clean (surprisingly quite) and the beds were very comfortable. The smores in the evening were a nice touch. The morning breakfast was restocked in a timely manner as it was extremely busy. The offerings were your standard morning items and were more than enough to satisfy us.

I was pleased with our stay and would consider the Inn on Lake Superior again!

Room Tip: If hotels website indicates "no rooms available", try booking through an on-line travel we...

When I called to make the reservation, I was put on hold for nearly 10 minutes, however, when we arrived the front desk staff was very friendly and allowed us a choice of which level to stay on. They recommended the 3rd level because of the views, and the views did not disapoint. The balcony is a bit small with only 2 chairs and a small table, so if you have a larger group, you may opt for first level with a patio where you can spread out. The room was very clean and comfortable. The kids loved to watch the boats come into the harbor and the nighly fire with smores was a special treat. The hotel had a suberb continental breakfast with freshly made sugared mini donuts for the kids. Everything in the canal area is within easy walking distance from this hotel, which is a bonus, as parking can be crowded in public lots. The kids (ages 8 and 4) loved both the indoor and rooftop pools, however, the rooftop pool offers hardly any view and is small and shallow. Overall, we loved the hotel and its location- and the city of Duluth itself!

very nice, clean motel. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The sofa sleeper was not in good shape. Not comfortable to sit on and was very uncomfortable to lay on the sleeper. Room Tip: Lake side is the best. We like ground floor so we can take our chairs out onto the grass and sit an...

Canal Park is a great area to stay in Duluth, and the Inn on Lake Superior is within easy walking distance of all the area shopping and restaurants. The complimentary breakfast has a great variety and is plentiful, s'mores at night are a treat, and the all-day coffee bar was the best -- even had vanilla lattes!

We had to change rooms as our original room was too close to the kitchen area and was noisy. We were there for a family reunion, and they booked many of our rooms near this area, but we were moved promptly upon request. We booked 6 months out, but did not get ideally located rooms, nor adjacent rooms because of this. Take note of this, meeting planners.

Benefits of this hotel are all the lakeview rooms have balconies, which is ideal in the summer. As is a problem with any non-smoking hotel, this means all the smokers are on their balconies smoking and ruining the fresh air for the rest of us. Not the hotel's fault. Bottom floor rooms open up onto the grass, which makes for ideal lakeside relaxing and peoplewatching.

The hotel had all new beds, I understand, which were comfortable. Bathrooms had sinks outside the toilet/tub area, which has pros and cons when sharing the room with a family. All rooms had refrigerators and wi-fi at no extra charge. The kids enjoyed the pool, but found the rooftop pool too small.

Duluth is a great city to visit, and the Inn was a great destination hotel.

Room Tip: Stay away from kitchen area for a quieter stay. Lakeview rooms have private balconies, but the balc...

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments about your recent experience here. I understand your complaint about the smokers, and offer my apologies. Duluth is a great place to visit, pretty much anytime of year, and the lake is always interesting to watch. I hope you will be back and enjoy yourselves here again in the future.
