“Beautiful sandy hike through pine trees”

Be careful about the poison ivy, in season. Very nice, gentle trail.

“Diverse Natural Landscape”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2011

We began our hike in a dense fog, picking up the trail on a boardwalk that straddles a beautiful landscape of grassy sand dunes. Once we hit the sand, we struggled for footing in the loose sand. Since it was early April, the shores were still obscured with thick, chunky ice, covered in spots by the iron-colored sand of the surrounding area giving the scene a Martian landscape quality. We eventually picked up the trail in the center of the park, beneath the tall pine canopy and had a straight shot to the 100-yr old lighthouse ruin. It was an awesome place and we had it all to ourselves since it was too cold for most other tourists this time of year.

“Duluth lakefront”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2009

Duluth has a wonderful lakefront on Lake Superior.

There is a great walking path, about 2 miles long, with plenty of sites along one side, and the expanse of Lake Superior along the other.

A relatively large beach area has course sand and pebbles. The water was cold in September, but there were a few brave swimmers.

A separate area contained various shops. This area was clean and all the people & visitors seemed friendly.

Within easy walking distance is the Duluth landmark, an aerial lift bridge.

Thank Kenosha-Bruce
