Nice museum of great lakes history and shipping information. They can tell you what ships are scheduled to come to or from the harbor, what they are carrying, etc.

Very interesting displays of old ship motors and maritime related paraphernalia, facts and figures. Plus, it is warm in there when it is cold outside. Usual government building hours. Pay parking nearby at Canal Park.

This is a great museum, and a must if you visit Duluth. There are three floors of displays. The movie at the beginning is very interesting. The top floor has a display about the big freighters and you can get a schedule of departing and arriving freighters.

Both adults and young children can get enjoyment out of this free museum in Duluth's Cana Park. There are plenty of informational displays for adults to learn about the history of shipping in Duluth, on Lake Superior, and on the St. Lawrence Seaway. An old pilot house provides little children with the opportunity to "steer" a ship and sound the ship's horn.

Could spend hours in here. Displays are very informative. Arrived an hour before opening. Walked the pier and in doing so, noticed an abandoned suitcase near a walkway bench. Thought it was rather suspicious. Reported same to one of the ladies on duty. Thought she would report it to law enforcement. Nope-when out and checked it out herself. No threat as she determined it was probably left by a homeless person. Geez I thought. Nerves of steel, or you're crazy !

This faci - very nice on a cold or rainy day. There are ship models, steam and diesel engines, other ship equipment, and fascinating facts about shipping. You can't see it all or remember what you do see, so you can come back more than once.
