Owner description: Watch seagulls soaring while you stroll around this popular spot, part of the revived Duluth waterfront. Nearby are a sculpture garden, jazz clubs, coffee shops, motels and restaurants. If you like ships, stand on the pier and watch huge boats and ships, some from around the world, come and go daily.

Any visit to Duluth has to include a stop in Canal Park. A view of the lift bridge, multiple restaurants - Taste of Saigon is my favorite - browsing the Duluth Pack store and shops in the DeWitt-Seitz Building, along Canal Park Drive and South Lake Avenue. Walk along the lake to the Maritime Museum or in the other direction to Corner of the Lake Park. If you have time take the Harbor Tour. Parking on the street or a choice of inexpensive pay lots. Once you have seen the sights drive across the Lift Bridge to Minnesota Point. Park just across the Bridge and walk to the beach or drive to the end of the Point. Always a festive occasion.

The maritime museum at Canal Park is a MUST VISIT place when you're in Duluth. Leave yourself plenty of time to explore this MN treasure.

Here you will find an amazing amount of history & information about the lake, shipping & commerce, and, sadly, many, many shipwrecks over the years.

We've been to the museum many times - it is always interesting to visit whenever we're in Duluth.

I'm not much for tourist places, so that's why the rating is only 3/average. However, Duluth has made this area VERY ATTRACTIVE with fountains, restaurants, shops (art galleries, clothing, gifts, etc.), museums, and walks. You can walk for miles along the shoreline, or to the aquarium, children's park, or out to the beaches on Park Point. All that and more is readily accessible. You can almost touch the lakers and ocean-going ships as they come and go picking up or depositing cargo through the Duluth ship canal. The views of Lake Superior and the Duluth hillside are spectacular from Canal Park. The local people are friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed. It's a good place to bring family.

When you visit Duluth, no doubt you will visit Canal Park. A large collection of hotels, restaurants, and shops await the visitor here, all within easy walking distance. And all on the shores of the world's largest freshwater lake. This is THE place to come for evening summertime strolls, and to grab an ice-cream cone. Lots of dining opportunities, and too many shops to name. Come visit Duluth! Even as 20-year residents, my family doesn't tire of an evening spent at Canal Park.

No better place to visit in Duluth! Can be very busy on a beautiful weekend in Duluth so if you can play hooky during the day do so because there is something for everyone here!
