“Gorgeous”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

The history of this bride is compelling. I can't imagine anyone except an adolescent girl in a pout who would not enjoy watching the ships (boats in Duluth parlance) come in and out!

“At Sunset”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

We went to the Aerial Lift Bridge just before sunset - there is a pay parking lot just by Canal Park and Grandma Saloon & Grill. The cost was $2 for 2 hours which was more that enough time for walk out to the lighthouses and the Aerial Lift Bridge. We were able to get some great pictures at sunset and the bridge is lit up in the evening that give a better photo then in the day. We also found it fun to walk under the bridge when cars drove over - which is only about 5’ from your head.

“Fun to watch!”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

The little LOVED when it just happened to start lifting up. Kind of funny watching people just flock over to the edge of the water to watch -we did as well...
A ship was leaving when we watched, the ship 'honked' its horn, and there was someone waving to everyone on the ship! Great experience!!

“It never gets old”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

This landmark has been around for darn near forever and watching in operation whenever a ship passes through is always a treat to watch. I've been visiting this amazing site since I was 12 and the internet wasn't even an idea on "Star Trek" yet. And it's one of those things that doesn't have a age limit on it for being able to enjoy. Anyone who has live in this part of the Midwest knows about this amazing piece of engineering. And if you have little ones, it's a good way to show them there's more to life than a cell phone. Like anything else on the North Shore, only complaint is the same one all of us in the Twin Cities have, never enough hours in the day to enjoy it all.

“Stand under it as it lowers.”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

I grew up with the bridge, so it is nothing too exciting for me.

For fun--stand under it on the sidewalk below as it lowers.

If you are driving, be prepared to "get bridged" for as long as 45 minutes while the bridge raises and lowers for boats.

If you wave to people in boats, they generally are friendly and wave back.
