“Home Away From Home”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

Since January of this year, I have been staying at this hotel while travelling to Detroit Lakes on business. With a usual stay of 3-4 nights per week, it is easy to see why I would want to be somewhere I felt comfortable. The staff at this hotel has been amazing and so attentive to the needs of their guests. From the management all the way through to the housekeeping staff, they have taken care of any need I have had. The room is always nice and the beds are really comfortable! It is so nice having a lounge to go to in evening and the views of the lake are amazing. The bar staff is one of the best I have ever encountered. They all genuinely care about their guests and want to ensure a great visit. The selection of wines and beers is good, and if you are a cocktail person, they can make anything your heard desires! The selection on the menu is great, and everything I have tried has been really good.
Without question, I will continue to stay at this hotel when I travel to Detroit Lakes for business or pleasure. I have stayed a few other places in the area, and this is hands down the best hotel on the Lake!

I think it should read "Highspeed Internet Free"
Recently stayed here with two colleagues for a Fortnight
Being reliant on Internet connection for buisness purposes found connection if not slow , unable to connect at all,
Bought the problem up with front desk every morning for 5 days before something was done about it and we're given a promise by Manager Doug Anselmin that the problem had been sorted but 2 days later down it goes again,
The rest of the stay was fine but shifted to another hotel due to the lack of Internet availability,
Come on guys as a big hotel chain I think you need to pick up your act!!!

Mr. Eden,
I apologize that you experienced inconsistency with our internet service during your stay and I do understand how important it is to have reliable internet service while traveling.
It did take several service calls (and a call to the owner of our internet service provider) and two days to get a replacement part installed but as of this writing our internet has been fully operational and problem free since the incident.
I would also like to add that our hotel provides the largest internet bandwidth of any hotel property in Detroit Lakes and will continue to provide the best customer care as well.
I would like to thank you for your business and look forward to your continued patronage.
Respectfully,
Douglas Anselmin

Staff was great and the pool area was awesome. My children had a wonderful time. The pizza and pop were served on time. I recommend this hotel to people who have children and for parents who want to enjoy themselves.

Thank you for your feedback and we are all pleased you enjoyed your stay with us.
As summer approaches you should know that we have numerous activities like boating, biking and fishing equipment that is provided for our guests for your next "staycation".

Wanted to get away for the night, decided to visit Detroit Lakes! Searched around online and this hotel had some very good reviews! Our visit was great! The room was very clean and had a great view of the lake! We were lucky to get a room with a whirlpool and that hit the spot! Room was large and the bed was very comfortable. It was nice having a lounge in the hotel, great views of the lake! Can't wait to go back in the summer and sit on the patio! The staff was very friendly and genuinely cared that we were comfortable and had a good visit. We'll be back!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The ice should be off the lake by mid May and then the fun really starts.
If I can be of assistance with booking your return visit please ask for me when contacting the hotel.

I personally appreciate your valuable feedback and look forward to your return soon.

We spent the night for a Golden Gloves boxing card and brought our Lab. I had reserved what the Holiday Inn calls a "pet-friendly" room. It was conveniently located near the stairwell on the 2nd floor. Being a pet room is always a concern because of pet oders. Our room was clean and exceptionally comfortable. I would have doubted any pet had ever stayed in there. The room smelled clean and fresh. Even the dog didn't seem to be overwhelmed by previous smells. The room had a refridgerator and a microwave. both looked very new. The service was excellent as usual and the lounge was busy with boxers and their families enjoying the post-fight music. We had a great stay and highly recommend this holiday inn on the Lake to everyone!

Room Tip: The north side of the Inn faces a very busy train track just across the highway. The volume of each...

This was not a planned stay so just went to find a room for a couple nights. Easy check in. Room was nice and well furnished with refrigerator, microwave, tv, table and 2 queen beds. Room overlooked pool area. The second night the pool area was a bit noisy. The value of this stay would have been higher if some bype of breakfast had been offered.

Their rooms are large and equipped with a fridge and microwave, which was nice. Nice, large flat-screen TV, too. The room was clean and well-maintained. Every interaction we had with their employees, from check-in to the maid service, was pleasant and professional. The pool area was nice, with something for everyone, although both the main pool and the jacuzzi seemed small for this size of a hotel. The trains didn't bother us at all; in fact, we kind of enjoyed them!
