Love the food here. Best steak & chips anywhere & the breakfast is 10/10. They also have loads going on in the week, poker nights etc. there's a farmers market as well the second Saturday of the month.

I went to the Swan on Tuesday 10th December at lunch with my friend and we had prebooked The waitress placed us in a corner and said she would serve us quickly as she wanted to attend to the pensioners party when they came in. We felt that our meal was being extremely rushed as she was busy serving other people. Not a very pleasant experience or the relaxing lunch as we would have wished for .

The next evening I went back to the black swan with three friends for our christmas evening out and again, we had pre-booked and to say the least we were not very impressed. Our table was not ready for us when we arrived and we had to point out that we had booked the Christmas menu. The waitress didnt even bother to open the wine just plonked it in front of us. The starters were ok but the main Christmas Dinner left a lot to be desired. We were given two bowls of frozen veg to share between the four of us (with one sprout each) and they were cold and uncooked. Request for coffee was treated as if this was a great effort and we were then asked at 9.45pm if we could settle our bill as the waitress wanted to go home! by which time so did we. What a shame it could have been so nice if someone bothered to put in a little bit of time and attention. Nor even a Christmas cracker. Wont be in a rush to dine at the Swan again. The Swan used to be such a nice cosy place with a nice welcoming atmosphere but not any more. The staff definitely need a lesson is customer relations and service

Merry Christmas well that's what I was hoping for when I booked a Christmas meal for myself and 3 friends, It was downhill from the start, we weren't even shown to our table the waitress pointed to where our table was , we were given menus and had to point out we had pre booked the Christmas meal, the table was very sparse not even a Christmas cracked adorned the table. We ordered 2 bottles of wine, the wine was plonked on the table ( excuse the pun) in a couple of buckets by the waitress who didn't even open the bottles let alone pour the wine. The starter was delicious , the turkey and roast potatoes were nice ,the veg was separate in 2 bowls between 4 the bowl I shared had a few carrots a few peas a few green beans 1 piece of cauliflower and 1 sprout, I didn't fight my friend for the sprout as all the veg was very under cooked, my other 2 friends faired better they had a sprout each . So all in all very disappointing ,with both the food and the service, to top it all I asked for a coffee , The waitress didn't look too happy at this request ,we were then asked could we settle the bill as they wanted to cash up. I have to say I have eaten here at a lunch time and the food and service has generally been good.

Just come back home from a really lovely stay here with my boyfriend. The rooms are finished off to a high spec. The beds are so comfy and huge! The food was very nice, the service was very good! Will definitely be returning! Ideal for the Trafford centre as well.

As somewhere to stay I cannot recommend this place highly enough. we travelled up from Southampton arriving late on Friday evening to go to Old Trafford the next day (See Easy Directions Below) from the moment we arrived we realised what a brilliant place this was.

Although very late we were informed don't worry we will tell Chef about some late orders. The place was absolutely buzzing but they found us a table and the meals were great. We ate there both nights the food was lovely, plentiful and good value.

Choose from eating in the restaurant or bar. The bar is large and good range of beers including a few real ales.

The bedrooms are just amazing well decorated with king size beds and top class furniture. Flat screen TV, tea & coffee making facilities, free Wi-Fi, i pod docking station, hair dryers. Beautiful En-suite bathrooms with shower & bath with good quality toiletries and lovely quality towels. They certainly didn't skimp when fitting these rooms out.

Breakfast was served in the conservatory. Help yourself to as much tea & coffee, juice, toast, cereal as you want. The full English breakfast was well cooked with eggs however you wanted and a choice of all the things you would expect including fresh mushrooms and black pudding.

The staff we helpful, polite, attentive without being over bearing and all had a good sense of humour.

The outside area is a large car park and a large children's play area that is well equipped and even includes a well fenced off 'Village Pond' with the obligatory ducks.

It was a pleasure to stay at 'the Black Swan' and if like us lot you want to get to Old Trafford it is just so easy. We drove to Eccles parked the car at the 'Free' park and ride Ladywell Metro station car park. Got the Metro to Exchange Quay then a short few minute walk to Old Trafford. Metro return ticket was a couple of pound, the whole thing took us about 45minutes from pub to Old Trafford just so easy then coming back picked up the car from Ladywell just a few minutes to the motorway and back to the pub.

This place is a must if you want a lovely country pub just minutes away from Salford Quays shopping & good links to football.
