We stayed here for 2 nights recently while at a hockey tournament in Cloquet. I've actually stayed here many times - for the same reason - over the years. It's always a pleasant experience.

The hotel is your typical Americinn. Decent rooms that are quiet. Basic breakfast that you would expect (eggs, waffles, bacon and assorted breads and pastries). Pool and hot tub. All the things you would want for those in-between game times.

The rink is actually within walking distance and we walked back and fourth for one of the Saturday morning games. Between the rink and the hotel is a small strp mall with a grocery store, liquor store (big surprise) and a few other small mom and pop type stores. Right next to the hotel is a Perkins and there's a McDonald's in the mall parking lot, as well.

I think the Americinn in Cloquet is a great value and would recomend it. We'll be back next winter for hockey!

Room Tip: Second floor facing the front at the end of the long halway on the opposite end from the lobby. That's where I always as to be.

We stayed here as a family with another family last year, 2011. Was a great stay.
We had the king room at the top of the stairs on the pool end of the hotel. Was immaculate, clean microwave, and fridge, clean bedding, bathroom and carpets. Loved our room, however, my parents were on the first floor and their room reaked of smoke smell. When asked to relocate their rooms, they were moved down the hall from us and were much happier. Front desk staff accomodating, pool and hot tub clean. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor, I believe these are all a bit mor emodern with flat screens, newer carpet, etc.

Denise and junior were more than accommodating. We just got back from vacation in mexico and they made us feel like we had our own mini vacation afterwards. The well needed hot tub was perfect for our aching bodies and the beds were very comfortable. We definately needed an excellent place to stay before we headed home and we got it. It was the perfect end to our vacation. Thanks guys!

Great experience. Great staff. Our room was clean and beds were comfy. Had been staying at a local casino hotel on prior business trips and had noticied the decline of cleanliness and customer service. Gald we made the choice to change.

My boyfriend and i traveled 6 hours to stay at this hotel for a wedding he was in. The wedding party had a block of rooms for thier special day but found that the hotel had offered no discount for such a large group or any discount for that fact on the weekends! Upon arrival had asked for the 2nd floor (only had 2 floors in the hotel) but they told me they were sold out and had no choice but to put me on 1st. i was right near an exit and stair case and heard every single person who came in/out!! when i looked over my room (habbit) i found hair on my bed and a half eaten carton of Ben and Jerrys ice cream in my fridge! When i took it down to the desk niether girl working apologized or even cared that this pissed me off!! came back down in the morning and complained again and got no where!! this place looks newly decorated but still kind runned down, definitly not a place i would stay again! id rather take the 25min drive to duluth and pay twice as much for better service! at $109 a night id expect something slightly nicer...........also the pool looked gross from the window so we didnt even attemp to go in there!

Room Tip: Dont stay here!! If you have to be in the area, drive to duluth to one of the newer hotels for comfort~
