We go to Maplelag every year and look forward to our trip virtually all year long. The Richards family is so welcoming, the food is just great (and plenty of it!), the accommodations are nice and YES, the skiing is excellent. Jay keeps the trails in great shape, even when the conditions aren't the greatest. The Swedish pancakes, Jim's popcorn and Debby's brisket are favorites. It is indeed an annual highlight and a big letdown when we have to return to reality at the end of our stay!

Thanks for taking a time to write a review! We very much appreciate the nice comments. We will keep on grooming the trails daily, popping fresh popcorn and slow roasting beef brisket! Cheers!

I've been to Maplelag for cross country skiing many times since 1997 and each experience has been awesome. Ski trails are constantly groomed and offer a wide variety of trails for every level of skiing. Food is delicious home cooked meals and incredible desserts. And the cookie jar is always full of very tasty treats. The Richards families are very welcoming and always ensuring your trip is the best ever.

My husband and I spent one night (2 days) at Maplelag this past weekend. We had a wonderful time skiing, eating the delicious food, and just relaxing together. The staff is friendly, the accommodations are clean, and the food is whole and hearty. The ski trails through the pristine woods will quicken your heart and quiet your soul. We will definitely be back and we'll be bringing our children as soon as they are old enough to enjoy the place!

We visited Maplelag for the first time 10 years ago, invited to join friends for Presidents Day weekend. We have gone back every year. The Richards family welcomes you and makes the stay special. The x-country skiing is the best we have ever experienced. Even when the rest of the state has little or no snow, Maplelag has had just enough. There have always been a variety of trails groomed to fit every skier. They really know how to groom!!! The home cooked food is great and look forward to every meal. The weekday meals when there are fewer people are really something special. We highly recommend it!

Room Tip: There are unique rooms. It is best to talk to the people at the lodge when you make your reservatio...

This was my first time at Maplelag and I was in the minority. This cross country ski resort is an annual migration for the majority of the guests, with some coming once a year for more than 30 years. The ski trails were amazingly groomed, the family owned resort was huge with a hot tub, nooks for talking, reading, email, conferences, and a neat gift shop. I remember hearing one of the owners say that managing the resort is a lifestyle and obviously a lifestyle the Richard's family enjoy and take pride in. Everyone was welcoming, professional, and gracious. This was my first visit, but I'll be back!

An excellent cross-country ski resorts. Accommodations are a bit rustic, but very comfortable. Do and excellent job of grooming the trails and the meals very good and plentiful. Unlimited hot drinks and cookies are very nice. Highly recommend.

2 of my friends and I went here (all mid-twenties) for a weekend and it was awesome. The food was great and the concept of family dining was so much fun! We learned so much about cross country skiing from them and shared much laughter. The staff was accommodating and pleasant to talk to. We also rented their skis and took a lesson. All were great! We stayed in the Eider place and even though it didn't have a bathroom, it was easily accessible to the main lodge and wasn't a problem. My mattress wasn't the most comfortable but we had extra as there were about 6 beds in our cabin so I stacked them. Great place and great people all around!
