We stayed over at Shrigley Hall after a nearby wedding. This grand old dame of a hotel is very well maintained, albeit feeling a little tired and in need of some refurbishment. However, it is spotlessly clean and the charming staff epitomise what good service is all about. Our premium room with four poster was very comfortable, although this is a huge hotel so be prepared for a very long walk to your room and signage could be improved to avoid getting lost. The traditional English breakfast was most enjoyable, with excellent service from genuinely friendly, polite and attentive staff. Location of the hotel offers superb views and amenities include leisure and golf. I imagine a full refurbishment would be way too expensive but at some point very soon the hotel will need it as there can be a fine line between what feels like a stately as opposed to a retirement home. Puma Hotels think on please and splash the cash on Shrigley Hall!
