Not my idea of a good breakfast. We dined as a family. Milk for kids cereal was warm. Ran out of orange juice. Sausage tasted really bad. But enough negative. Bacon was good. Scrambled eggs were good. Did not even offer toast. We had two vouchers for our breakfasts, so all we paid for was a couple of children's breakfast, $23 plus gratuity. Wow, next time fast food! If meal tasted good I would not be writing this, but it was not. The staff was grumpy and not very helpful. The hotel site said free breakfast. That is the one we booked.

We have found Lombard’s restaurant at the hotel to be a very good option for either breakfast or dinner. We do not mention lunch only because we did not eat lunch there. Yes, I know it is a hotel restaurant, and it is not a five star restaurant, but what you will get in Lombard’s is very fresh good tasting food and fabulous service. We opted to dine for dinner our first night because of snow storm exhaustion and found the burgers there to be fabulous. Gracie, our server could not have been better. We dined three days for breakfast and each day the food and service was exceptional. Do try the pancakes and do not miss the omelets. If you can get Linda for your breakfast server, then I guarantee you will have a perfect experience. Linda is a true professional with a heart of gold and patience to match. Linda, we will not forget you.
We also learned that a new menu is soon to be announced. We can hardly wait for our next visit. There are so many good places to eat in Minneapolis, you would not normally include a hotel restaurant. Lombard's is the exception. Not fancy, just great fresh tasting food and fabulous service at moderate prices.

I stayed here at the Crowne Plaza this week and ate at the resturant here. It was good and reasonably priced.

Service was just FANTASTIC!!! Servers were prompt and friendly. Just because of the excellent service I would come back. Grace was my server and always had a smile when I was greeted.

Food was well prepared and was good.

Recommended - yes!

Lombard's may be the best kept secret in our little village of Brooklyn Center, MN. While a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis and within 30 minutes of many hundreds of excellent eateries, sometimes it's nice to simply stay local.

Located at the beautiful Crowne Plaza North, at 2200 Freeway Boulevard Minneapolis, MN 55430, Lobard's is found in the lobby. The restaurant is small but tastefully decorated, even I dare say, elegant. The decor is in a theme which honors American actress, Carole Lombard and photos are scattered on the walls. Large windows allow a view through the lounge and into the lush landscape outside.

The menu is American-traditional with a scattering of burgers, sandwiches, pastas, seafood and steaks. Our party enjoyed several pasta dishes including chicken and shrimp and I had Maryland Lump Crab Cakes and skewers of Shrimp, prepared in three flavors.

Served first were ample salads and perhaps the very best Wild Rice soup any of us had ever tasted. While the local favorite may be Byerly's the folks at Lombard's have a recipe which is fantastic!

The pastas were solid performers and portions were large enough that one diner took half home. The Maryland Lump Crab Cakes were solid performers although in the case of the shrimp - both skewered and in one of the pasta dishes - they were among the smallest size once could expect to pierce with anything but a fork! Were I to make any recommendation to the restaurant it would be to cut back to a single Crab Cake and bump up the shrimp by a size for a bit more flavor. The same thing can be said of the pasta dish. This said, there was flavor and the meal was very good.

Service was excellent and not rushed. In fact, Lombards is a nice enough place, service is perhaps slowed just a bit to allow for conversation and enjoyment in the pretty surroundings. Prices were 10-12 for burgers & sandwiches and 15-20 for entrees. Nothing seemed overpriced and overall there was solid value.

I would recommend Lombard's to anyone who has never realized there is a fine dining experience to be had in Brooklyn Center. There is even a small lounge at the hotel, where draft beer and cocktails can be had. Without question, we will return!

Hadn't been here for years, when we used to stop in for lunch. Decided to check them out, again, as they were in our Happenings book. Dinner was excellent. Soft music in the background, good service. Loved the wild rice soup. Entrees were delicious. We were so happy with our choices, that we were back within a week for another dinner for two. Decor and artwork inside all dedicated to Carol Lombard, of course. Happenings discount or no discount, we wouldn't go back unless the food was good. We are looking forward to dinner here, again. We were pleased enough, we'd dine here without the discount.
