“Comfortable overnight”
Reviewed June 2, 2007

I booked the CP Minneapolis Airport West on the Priority Club web site using PC points -- a real deal for just 5000 points a night. I was just staying one night between flight connections.

I arrived very late -- about 1 am and was cordially greeted by the desk clerk. The room was comfortable, well appointed, pretty new.

The buffet breakfast was a good deal -- two kinds of eggs, two kinds of potatoes, two meats, bread, fruit, cereal, coffee and juice, including refills all included in the price.

The hotel is a bit out of the way -- it does provide airport transportation until about 1 am, but you'll probably need a car -- it is not on the 494 strip, but about 1/4 mile south of it.

I have to rate our 3 night stay as only average - but we wanted to rate it higher. We stayed in a King suite. The room was renovated with a great bed, two sitting chairs, a sleeper sofa, fridge, microwave, and 32 in HDTV. All were in very nice condition. The hotel has a HUGE pool with a hot tub, sauna, and workout room. These areas were also in very nice condition. It seems that the hotel is trying to be hip/trendy with their decor in the lobby and on site bar/restaurant. Check in was quick and helpful. The downside: the hotel's hallways have not be renovated - the hallway carpeting and walls are very dirty. The door to our room had a 1/4 to 1/2 gap from the door latch to the floor - allowing all noise and light to be welcomed into the room when you don't want it. The walls between the rooms were paper thin - normal level conversations could be heard between rooms - we had to run the HVAC fan to mask them. Room service trays were left in the hallway for 2 days. Our room was not cleaned our first night. When we called the front desk - they seemed to want to offer excuses rather than simply send someone with fresh towels, etc. They did after a 5 min wait on hold to see if housekeeping was still in at 3:30pm. All in all - not bad - not great. Just average. Kind of a let down given some of the recent reviews. There are at least 10-15 hotels within a 1 mile radius of this location. When coming back to Bloomington we will try someone else.

  • Liked — Pool area
  • Disliked — Dirty hallway carpeting and room service trays left sitting for days in halls.

I was traveling on business and the conference was held at the hotel. From the outside, not much to look at. But the inside is newly remodeled. We took the complimentary airport shuttle to the hotel and then upon check-in I was upgraded to a "women's floor." Which was so fabulous. It was secured so only women could access the floor. There was a plethora of free sodas/snacks/ice cream in the fridge in the hallway (No, I am not talking about a mini-bar, FREE). The room service food was great, staff super friendly, great business center, great products in the room (bath and body works). The "women's floor" also hosted robes, slippers, chocolates and magazines for women! I did not want to go home :) Really great stay. Thanks!

I stayed at the Crowne over the past weekend and as a frequent business traveler, I am very familar with Hotels. I was extremely impressed with the level of service that was provided during my entire stay. The staff was very welcoming and personable. I would highly recommend your property to fellow business travelers.

The Crowne Plaza hotel has a euro modern design - at first I thought it was under construction. The lobby was cold and not very welcoming withoutt much seating. We stayed here 3 days while visiting family.

The room and bath were quite small. Everything was clean, comfy but very small. The rooms are so small they only put one comfy chair in the room.

The bar and restaurant were a surprise. No background music to mask the crying babies in the restaurant. The drinks are good, but pricey, and service is friendly. The food was quite good - both the walleye and seared tuna were excellent. We went back to have lunch at the restaurant on Sunday at noon - only to find out they're only open for breakfast.

A snowstorm left us stranded while the airport recovered. We were disapointed we couldn't get a late checkout. They offered to shuttle us for shopping but when I said the Mall of America wasn't my idea of entertainment the shuttle driver offered to take us anywhere close by - very nice.

Other services used -- Nice business center with two PCs and printer. Good in-room wireless. The airport shuttle service was very efficient and very popular. Funky video vending maching by first floor elevator - we had to try it just to check it out.

All in all, we'll probably go back to staying at Staybridge across the way where our hotel stay feels more like home.

We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to our trip to Mexico. We chose this hotel for the price and their park & fly option. The hotel was nice enough but the desk clerk didn't speak very good English so we were unclear as to where to park etc. The only problem we had with our room was the heat didn't seem to work very well. We tried both the thermostat on the wall and the controls on the wall mounted heater. We could either have it on full heat so we roasted or off and we froze. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was good size and nice water pressure.
We watched the Super Bowl in their bar and they had a nice selection of munchies as well as drink specials.
They advertise that they are Airport-West and this is true. They are way west of the airport - probably 15 minutes or so. Not a problem with the shuttle to and from the airport.

If you are looking for affordable luxury when in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, try this hotel.
My family and I have stayed here many times over the last year. Each time, we have been very satisfied with the rooms, staff, and hotel amenities.
The front desk personnel are always friendly - even at 12:00 am - and patient. They give clear directions on how to get to your room and when the next meal is offered.
The rooms have luxurious beds and firm but comfortable pillows. I'm not sure if the beds are pillow-top, but I am sure that no matter what your firmness requirement, you will not wake up with aching bones or sore muscles. The king beds are larger than the residential king beds - even larger than other big name hotel king beds.
The bathrooms are well stocked - towels, shampoo, coffee, tea, shoe horn! With the look of granite, the bathroom floors are not cold.
In the smaller rooms, the bathroom is split - sink and mirror outside bath and only toilet and tub in bath. This is not one of the best features.
The rooms are decorated tastefully - muted beige with accent pieces of either a chair and ottoman or pull-out couch and coffee table.
The work desk is just large enough to handle a laptop, phone, lamp, beverage and briefcase. It isn't so big you lose room space, or so small you barely fit your laptop. As Goldilocks would say - it is "Just right".
Although I am not a pool person, my family loves the pool area. The water is a good temperature - not hot and not cold. The area around the pool is decorated with fake palms and cabana type loungers - giving the illusion of a tropical island. As with most pool areas in hotels, echoes abound and young children's playful laughter and screaming can pierce your ears.
The hotel has has nice eclectic feel. The buffets are not overly done - fresh fruit, meats, sides, desserts are plentiful but not overwhelming. You can order from the menu and be satisfied but not overstuffed with the fine steaks and poultry.
The price for all of this may seem high to some travelers. But, compared to the "big name" hotels in the area charging close to the same price, you will find the Crowne Plaza to be a much better value!
