“Peace and Serenity at France Ave. and 98th Street”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

On the north side of the Normandale Community College Campus is a picturesque Japanese Garden that is one of my favorite places to visit in Bloomington, Minnesota. The grounds are clean and neatly kept, the trees are excellently groomed, and the atmosphere is tranquil. Students at the college regularly stroll through the garden during school hours and groups frequently visit seven days a week. The garden is often reserved for weddings and private events that leave visitors with a great experience in a well groomed park setting. (Food is not allowed in the garden, so private events should not include serving meals). The head caretaker's name is Sam, and he deserves all of the credit for the overall appearance of the garden. Sam does a great job, and if you see him working in the garden, please do tell him his work is appreciated. The pond has a great collection of Koi Fish and Sam has accepted donations of healthy Koi fish from private parties to add to the pond. Visit the garden, any time of year, (the garden is open in winter, but snow is not regularly removed), you will not be disappointed. Thanks, Sam!

“Peace & Tranquility Abound”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Tucked behind Normandale College you will experience peace & tranquility in the beautiful Japanese Garden. This is a lovely place to visit and spend some time. Often enjoyed by the students of the college, the garden is open to the public (except when it is reserved for private functions). This little well-manicured beauty is definitely worth the trip!

“A Hidden Treasure”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

If you are looking for something simple to do check out the Normandale Japanese Garden. This a small, quaint, yet peaceful garden. Considering the location close to a major road you really do not get a lot of noise. You can easily spend a good 45 minutes here just walking around and sitting at one of the many benches that they have provided.
There are several ducks that waddle in the lake and they have some pretty big sized fish in the pond they have and a awesome waterfall. I love the variation of trees that have placed.

No bikes are allowed, walking only! :) Take time out and enjoy a nice view! It's well worth it!
