Samuka Hotel

This hotel is located near the main lagoon on the island of Santa Catarina (where most of the night life takes place), and a short drive from one of the main beaches. It's not expensive, and the rooms are nice. The owner, however, was so sourly that we jokingly referred to him as "Mr. Simpatico." For breakfast you are probably better off walking to one of the eateries nearby, facing the lagoon.

This is not a luxury hotel, then again, it does not claim to be. The rooms, granted, are a little on the small side and due to the design the bathroom got incredibly hot (the air con outlet from the rooms behind seemed to pour hot air into my bathroom), but the location is great. Quicker to walk to the beaches of Mole and Joaquina that take the bus during carneval traffic jams- so that means more time to enjoy the beaches too! Lagoa is literallly less than a minute from the hotel, but it remains remarkably quiet in the hotel even during the middle of crazy carneval time.

Breaksfast is simple but adequate, in a nice airy dining room, or in the outside dining area. The receptionist (Renata?) was very welcoming and they offer secure storgae and showers if you have a late flight / coach after check out. Rooms kept clean and bed was comfortable enough.

When in Floripa, you are not there for stay in your hotel, so only pay for what you need. Somewhere clean and conveneint and friendly for a sleep / shower and a breakfast to start your day. Samuka provides all that,

Does not look or feel like a hotel, more like a hostel.

We were two nights, we were very disappointed!
we paid 170 rials per night, in December 2011.

Not speak English, no strongbox in the room and no shampoo.
Air conditioner makes a lot of noise, cheap and uncomfortable mattress to sleep on.
Breakfast is not fresh and very poor.

Disappointment
Not recommended!

We have staff available to speak English and Spanish during business hours.

Only offer amenities like soap.

Breakfast recommended by top nutritionists, high standard quality products that are fresh and great variety for all tastes.
