This beautiful resort is only three hours north of Minneapolis on the historic Iron Range.
We stayed one night in a very nice two bedroom villa unit. The purpose of our trip was to golf the two 18-hole courses and we were not disappointed. The first day we played an afternoon round in 4:05 on the Legend course. On-line photos made the course look somewhat tight, but that wasn't the case at all. Lots of elevation changes, but pristine fairways and greens that would hold high approach shots. All four of us loved this course and will return in future years. We had a fox following us for parts of two holes. How cool was that? We had dinner that night at the new Burndt Onion restaurant in the Lodge. Both food and service were excellent. After a good night's sleep in the nicely appointed villa, we played a morning round (4:20) at the Quarry course, about a mile from the villas.
This course was more challenging with many long carries over rugged terrain. It also was beautiful, and on this course the wildlife was more of the Bambi variety. We played to our handicaps on both courses. As we drove back to the Twin Cities we started making plans to return again next year. This is a gorgeous part of the state and probably would be a great place to visit once the fall colors set in.More
