I currently live near this park and love getting over there as often as I can to go for walks. They have great paths along beautiful Lake Bemidji, as well as deep into the forest. They also have a great Bog Walk, that takes you 1 mile into a bog on a floating dock. On the Bog Walk you can see flowers of all different sorts that are unique to bogs, including pitcher plants (which eat bugs), lady slippers and much more.

We also just took a quick one-night stay there for camping. It was delightful! They have spots that are near the bathrooms and other campers, as well as more secluded spots. We enjoyed the two free concerts provided by the park. One was a folk group and another was a blue's group. So fun!

We spent a day at Lake Bemidji State Park. I would be interested in camping there someday. There are plenty of shower houses and the campsites are shady. The lake area is serene.

The star of this park is the bog walk. As others have mentioned don't miss this. The boardwalk meanders through the bog allowing access to dozens of exotic looking flowers and plants. The lady's slipper orchids (Minnesota's state flower) were in abundance. We also observed a snake, birds, fish, and quite a few mosquitoes.

Well worth the visit.

The park is really nice. I went camping there with a buddy of mine over a weekend. There was a strange smell all weekend but otherwise the trails are really great, especially the bog walk. The lake is awsome to swim in. There was swimmer's itch at the time we were there but the park had signs up and leaflets that told you what to do for it.

The only other thing I would say is that the camping spots are right on top of each other, would rather have some more space in between them. But the park is well maintained and the rangers patrol it frequently

The state park in Bemidji is a great weekend get-away for the whole family. There are sites for tent camping as well as trailer and RV's.
There are also cabins for big family gatherings. The rangers have events for the young and old alike all week long. There are canoes and boats to rent or you can bring along a bike and ride one of the many trails. There is so much to do there we had to go back several times to get it all done! I would highly recommend purchasing the annual park pass because you will want to go back more than once and at $25 it is a great deal! And it is also good for admission to any other MN state park. (We're on our way to Itasca next) :-) Also, if you are going to stay on a weekend I would recommend making a reservation first. The park seems to fill up fast! Hope you have fun!

The Bogwalk at the park is a must see. In June there are orchids that bloom right next to the trail. Anyone interested in birds will also enjoy the many warblers that are found along the trails.
