“A very pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013 via mobile

I have to say I didn't expect much more than the usual fried walleye while staying in the area but was truly pleasantly surprised at how good the food - and beer selection - was here. One of the owners waited on me and he was very nice. He obviously is interested in making good, REAL FOOD. Nothing I ate was prefab, pre-prepared, prepackaged, or flopped out of a freezer bag into deep-frier. I liked that the dishes had a bit of a twist and a hint of spice too. I would definitely go back.

Wait staff is always courteous and prompt. Food is fabulous and reasonably priced. Have been here many times, and we will continue to come back!

“Craft beers in Beaver Bay!”

Surley Furious in can, but still good! Food is the usual but with a nice craft beer who cares. Worth the stop with friends or family.

“It's all good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2012

The staff was all extremely nice and the food was great. The pulled pork was great as was the fish and chips. Our whole family liked the food so much that we came back the next day for a repeat performance.

“Amazingly good restaurant for such a small town!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

Wow, I don't know what it is about Beaver Bay, but this tiny town (pop. under 200) has the best two restaurants in the area--and one of them is Camp 61. Great food, comfortable atmosphere that is charming but not overly fussy (we felt totally comfortable in our work clothes), excellent service, and enough decent beers to make it worth a stop just for that. We had dinner one night, and liked it so well we went back the next day for lunch. The herring fish and chips is excellent, as noted by a previous reviewer. The fish tacos are also made from herring, but it is grilled for the tacos rather than fried, and the tacos are topped with house-made cilantro-lime coleslaw and a side of house-made salsa. Both of these dishes are highly recommended. I also enjoyed their take on a Philly sandwich, made with very nicely smoked meat and peppers. This is a must-top for us now when we are staying at our place in Silver Bay. (The other restaurant of note in Beaver Bay is the Lemon Wolf, which I've also reviewed on TripAdvisor. That is a fabulous restaurant which we love, but it seems a bit more spendy and more dress-up; it also has very limited hours.)
