My friend and I went to dinner on a Sunday night. We shared the wilted salad with HOT bacon dressing..... it was absolutely delicious!!!!!! We then shared the shrimp pasta, very good! We sat on the bar side. Service was good too. I would go back just for the salad! YUM!! The beer was cold too:}

We went for Sunday brunch and found the food to be fine, but not great. Our shoes actually stuck to the carpeting, which didn't do much for our comfort level. The person making the omelets was moving very slowly and was so far behind that we were done with the rest of our food before he had finished making the omelets for the three other people who had ordered them. We told him not to bother making ours. I mention this because the choice of breakfast items was already pretty minimal, and not having this as an option made the choices even more limited. We didn't hate it, but won't be rushing back.

We sat on the bar/restaurant side of the building, there is also a more formal dinning room on the other side. The service was friendly and quick. We ordered the Mahi Mahi fish tacos which were really fresh and tasty as well as the Walleye fish sandwich which was also fresh and delicious. Other than the we had the spinach artichoke appetizer, Alfredo pasta and a cheeseburger...all very very good with no issues or complaints from my often picky and food critical family.

Every time we vacation at Kavanaughs we try to catch at least a lunch at the Bear. This time we took all 12 for dinner and it was one of the best experiences. Outstanding service,top notch food,good prices. I had the filet and it was cooked to perfection along, Wife had the Beer Batter Shrimp and they were outstanding. This place has the up north lodge feel, which is getting hard to find these days.

Expect a long wait time even when not crowded. Food has little to no flavor and freshness is questionable. Salads are on part with McDonald's and entrees are on part with Perkins or Country Kitchen. Will not be back.
