The Big Sky Diner is a neighborhood legacy. If you go inside, the original diner is still there in all its chrome glory and the present diner has been built up around it.
The BSD has a new owner since about 4 years ago. He used to be a chef and he comes in at 2 am to start making the daily homemade specials. Every special is cooked from scratch and the mashed potatoes are always homemade. I've had the salisbury steak, the turkey and the meatloaf and they were all great and for about 6 bucks you get soup or salad and the portions are so huge you'll take some home guaranteed.
Breakfasts here , make you want to bow down and kiss the plate. They are huge. Try the country fried steak with hash-browns covered in sausage gravy. Even better the waitress are tough and friendly and super effecient. You are family from the time you walk in the door.
If you are a senior. They have senior specials for $5.00 . They include soup or salad, a home made entree potatoe and vegitable and dessert. The senior portions are just as large ( read enourmous) as the regular menu.
