“Stick with the Torta”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

The tortas are their best dish. Pambazos are also excellent. I had a burrito last time and it was okay, not great. Great cooks, but not the best service. Last time I was there we all wanted avocado on our sandwiches, and she said that it would be 2 dollars extra total on the bill. I thought we would get avocado in our sandwiches, but she brought out a huge plate with sliced avocado and it was really sloppy putting it on ourselves. Would've been much easier and courteous to put the avocado on before serving our dishes. Then it turned out she added 2 dollars to each of our sandwiches. Sorry, one sliced up avocado is not worth 10 dollars. No fountain drinks is also a let down.

Like I said, the tortas and pambazos are excellent and authentic tasting. I get cravings for them every now and then.

“Not very clean, bad service”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

Was advised to go here by my cell phone navigator. I should have ignored it. I will start by saying the food tasted very good. I would get carryout except that since I have eaten inside I know it is not clean. The service was terrible.

“Not really restaurateurs but very, very good cooks”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

If you want impeccable service and a variety of fruity flavored margaritas, this is not your place. Upon walking in the restaurant, you have a collection of second-hand furniture and hand written signs seemingly arranged in no apparent order. In the background, ESPN Deportes or Univisión quietly plays. It's laid back, quirky and completely inviting. What the ambiance 'lacks', La Casita makes up for with its food.

You want a sizzling plate of fajitas a la TGI Friday's? A chimichanga like they make at Applebee's? Well, you're better off going there. La Casita is old school Mexican food made by Mexicans for other Mexicans. It's the comfort food they miss from home prepared wonderfully & humbly.

The highlights are, well, the tacos. The tacos al pastor served with freshly cut onions, cilantro and lime are worth the trip alone. On several visits, we've tried the flautas, enchiladas, chimichangas, and the caldo (stew) and all were very tasty.

The waitstaff is very friendly - one of the owners is frequently working the front of the house. Do they forget the occasional detail from time to time? Yes (hence the title of my review) but that's what gives La Casita its charm. Having a meal here is like going to someone's kitchen. The table might be a bit in disarray and the dishes will come out at different times, but the food (oh lord the food) makes up for it all.

“Good food, quirky atmosphere, tepid service”
Reviewed October 25, 2012 via mobile

Late lunch (2p) on a Friday and all tables stayed full during visit, along with a steady stream of carry out. The place has character, with hand lettered signs on the walls, bold paint and just the right amount of decoration to make it feel like a joint. Chips were average, salsas unremarkable. The guacamole was quite good although somewhat bland. Great selection of meats for tacos, including lengua, served on substantial and flavorful corn tortillas. Cilantro was nearing its expiration date, and oddly, the kitchen forgot to include onions. Still, I would easily return to sample the other meats. Pambazo al pastor was huge and delicious, the pork nicely seasoned and the sandwich covered in a mild but tasty red sauce. The menu offered menudo and pozole, along with breakfast items, all of which merit a return visit or two. Service was inattentive and forgetful, enhanced in part by the lack of staff. During our visit the single waitress handled all the tables plus carry out and cash register. Towards the end she received some help, but this issue needs attention.

“Love this tiny Mexican restaurant”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

Tucked into a corner of a strip mall and seating only 16-20 people, it has the flavor of a small town Mexican restaurant transported into the US.. Simplicity, but good food! All kinds of specials [in Spanish] are posted around the room, but requests for something not listed there or on the printed menu will probably be filled with no problem. Tremendous value for money as the prices are low and the servings large. A lot more fun experimenting here than eating in the chain-syle Tex-Mex restaurants. Have gone there a number of times both as a couple and with good friends.
