I see others have found the place lacking but I must not be a regular enough Hampton person. Or maybe is was the genuine niceness of the check-in staff and the breakfast person the next day. Their website did say they were going to start remodeling in late Oct-early Nov so maybe these messages made a difference.

After staying at a HIE the day before, this was a better choice for us in many ways.

I wanted to stay close to my client's location and opted for this Hampton. As the other recent review state, it is older. So if you stay in 2-3 times a week at the new Hampton's, like I do, you will notice the difference. Bottom line, it was clean, very quiet and a good staff. There are a few closed restaurants you can walk to. Easy access off the highway. The parking lot could use more lighting. I would stay here again, if I need to return. This area offers many options.

Room Tip: 4th floor, rear of hotel, away from the highway. Very, very quiet.

Hampton Inns offer pretty consistant quality, but this one appears to have not been updated for about 20 years. Carpet, furniture, etc, was old and worn out. It was like stepping back in time. The TVs are new and the staff is nice, but this place really needs some work. Next time I'm in town, I'll stay somewhere else.

I would like to thank you for taking time to write a review based on your recent stay at our 15 year old Hampton Inn. Guest communication is a very powerful tool for us to improve both our product and service.

Our hotel has been undergoing renovations throughout the past year and have painted the exterior of the hotel as well as all of our guest rooms. We built a new fitness center, business center and family restroom and have renovated our public restrooms and meeting room. By the end of the year, we will have a completely renovated lobby and front desk area. Our focus in 2013 will be renovating our hallways and entry ways as well as our guest room bathrooms.

We hope to serve you again and show you all the wonderful transformations we are creating.

This hotel appears a little old & worn, but the hotel room and bathroom were spotless. The bed was very comfortable & I got a great night's sleep. The staff was also very friendly & attentive & the check in process was brief & painless. A big plus was free internet that was fairly quick. Overall, I had a very positive experience & I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a clean room & comfortable bed.

Stayed at this location since the hotel that I normally would stay at was booked up....This is not
a location that I would stay at except for business....It is handy to the expressways...Road around hotel is under construction...watch your car's undercarriage. Hotel itself is typical of what you find at most Hamptons....dependable good beds...decent breakfast and helpful front desk staff....

The hotel is in a very convenient location. It is very close to restaurants, shopping, and the highway. The included breakfast is a nice option. It includes fruit, pastries, yogurt, eggs, sausage and waffles. Coffee, tea and juice are also included. This is great if you are traveling with a family and need to be cost conscious. The rooms are clean and of a decent size. The staff is friendly. I'd definitely stay here again.

Just returned from the Grand Rapids area, and our stay at Hampton Inn was excellent. The front desk staff was friendly, and could answer all our questions. The breakfast hostess, Sandy was very friendly and stopped to chat both mornings we were there. The bed was so comfortable, I had the best sleep in weeks. Even though there was a girls' athletic team down the hall on one night, we didn't hear a thing. We had a great time at our church conference down the road, a lovely stay at Hampton, and a lovely meal at Arnie's restaurant next door. Enjoyed our weekend so much - thanks Hampton Inn Grand Rapids-South. We used our Hilton Honors points for 1 night, so the free night made it even better.
