The experience was generally mediocre, and the food seemed sometimes like it had been sitting out the whole day. The french fries were over-cooked and the small portions didn't match the LARGE prices. The restaurant was generally clean and it did seem like little old polish ladies made everything in the back. Polish music played in the background and polish knick knacks adorned the walls. Family friendly. My favorite was the hand made pierogis or city chicken, my least favorite was how much I paid for them!

Friendly service and great Polish frood from the old country. The Polish feast was phenomenal, as was the Dill pickle soup beforehand. I recommend this great little restaurant for anyone serching for a great meal at a good price. Polish or not, you will indeed want to come back for more. I had a chance to speak with one of the two owners, Mr. Roman Mucha. Roman and his brother Andrew helped build the restaurant with their parents back in in 1990. They have cured big appetites of local Poles and detroiters alike with recipes' from Zofia Mucha. Zofia is 84 years old, originally born in Poland, and still cooking everyday in the kitchen to preserve the great Polish tradition.

The recipes are right from the old country, although there are many items on the menu for the uninitiated. From cucumbers in sour cream, pierogi, golombki, keilbasa, sauerkraut...it's all here. Portions are generous, and you'll be able to go home and plow the back forty without getting hungry for quite awhile. Prices are very modest, and the most expensive item on the menu was the "Hungry Pole Feast" ( a large sampler platter) for under $10.00. The restaurant is plain but very clean and family friendly. The only downside to our visit was a rather surly young man behind the cash register. Other than that, the food is what you really come in for and Polonus will not disappoint!
