“A beautiful home”
Reviewed March 11, 2005

My husband and I (early thirty-somethings) stayed at the Country Hermitage in October 2004. We were pleased by the beautiful home and its convenient location for our wine-tasting plans around the area.

The staff were very friendly and greeted us on arrival and gave a brief tour. We were surprised by how infrequently we interacted with the owners (who live off-site), as opposed to their staff.

We stayed in the Morrison Room, which was attractive and very efficiently heated by the fireplace. We agree with an earlier review that the whirlpool tub was over-rated - barely large enough for a single tall person. That feature was not as romantic as I'd presumed it would be.

The breakfasts were very tasty and made use of local produce. Wine and snacks were always available in the evenings, which was nice.

Overall, we were a bit disappointed in the value for the price of the room, but it was overall a pleasant experience.

This was our second visit to the Country Hermitage B&B. We were very impressed and we found the food to be outstanding! The rooms are very comfortable, quiet, and impeccably clean! The innkeepers Lisa and Carl were charming and made sure all our needs were met. I would highly recommend this B&B. We plan continue to make this B&B one of our favorites. Thanks

My husband and I planned a trip to Mackinac Island and Traverse City thinking that Mackinac Island would be the main event. We were pleasantly surprised to find Traverse City equally as charming - mostly due to our stay at Country Hermitage Bed and Breakfast.
The accomodations were absolutely gorgeous. The inn has been lovingly transformed and we could tell that the tiniest details were well thought out.
The surroundings are beautiful too. The inn sits on a cherry orchard. It was beautiful to relax on the large deck around the inn with a glass of local wine and watch the sunset.
We felt very welcome at the inn. There were homemade cookies when we arrived, local wines to sample (as well as a fridge full of beverages), movies, books and games to use, and a spectacular breakfast! Our host, Michelle, was gracious, kind, and helpful. She made sure all our needs were met without being intrusive. She really helped us out in planning our meals and activites, etc.
I would HIGHLY recommend Country Hermitage for anyone looking for a relaxing, memorable getaway.

As you ascend the driveway of the Country Hermitage B&B, you know that you have arrived to a stately stay. The stunning B&B sits amidst a breathtaking cherry farm. Even in the dreary winter, it looked inviting. Upon entering the inn, we were greeted by one of our hosts, Lisa, who was warm and friendly. She gave a full tour of the home including a detailed history. Immediately, we felt that our stay would be comfortable. Our room, Pulcipher, was grand. Its condition was immaculate. We enjoyed romantic evenings by the fire and soaks in the spa. Breakfast was served in the beautiful main dining room. The food was elegant and hearty. We truly enjoyed the cherry crepes. Upon returning to the inn each evening we were greeted by fresh baked goods and local wines. The staff was phenomenal. Both innkeepers were knowledgeable about the area and offered many great ideas for activities and dining options. Our stay at the Country Hermitage was magical. We look forward to returning in the summer when the weather is warm and the cherry farm in full operation.

The Country Hermitage was a wonderful place to spend a weekend; it would have been great to spend a few more days! The innkeepers are friendly, courteous, and eager to please. Attention to detail was evident everywhere - service, decor, comfort of room, and food presentation. The food was good, but not great; it was presented beautifully, and tasted as though it just needed a few more adjustments to be superb. The rooms, beds, sitting areas, etc. were very comfortable.

The setting is beautiful, though we were there during an especially dreary November weekend. The cherry orchard on the grounds would make this particularly beautiful during the late spring/early summer.

I would highly recommend the Country Hermitage B&B near Traverse City for anyone visiting the area - it is very easy to find, and conveniently located near surrounding attractions.
