Selected this hotel due to the high rating on Trip Advisor but it was anything but. FIrst keys don't work so we have to truck back down thru the catacomb hallways to get new keys... Although the hotel is supposedly 100% smoke free, first room smelled like a bar with all the smoke. Switched rooms but was given a conference room, complete with ceiling wrap fluorescent lighting, center ceiling dome light, paper towel dispenser in the bathroom and a Murphy Bed! All these delays made us miss the nightly reception ... but it didn't appear we missed much based on the looks of things. We would have switched hotels but nothing was available in the area. Next morning, we had hopes for the breakfast but they too were shut down fast -- runny eggs, overly steamed sausages so they looked white... yuck. Luckily the hotel had seen to checking us out early and put our bill under our door (we had 2 nights reserved but they checked us out early ...who knows why). Travel a lot in our jobs... this is NOT high on the Troy area hotels.

A decent hotel to stay but I have never experienced a free bar with drinks, thats whiskey beer and all for free in the evening from 16:00 to 19:00. Apart from that they have a nice indoor pool and a TGI Fridays at walkable distance where the medium rare steak was just awesome.

We drove to Troy from Ontario, Canada to shop at the nearby Somerset Collection Mall. We booked the Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Shopping and Hotel Package and received coupons to the mall and a $25 gift certificate. The outlet was a 15 minute drive and provided good value. We were impressed with the warm welcome we received upon check-in and the follow-up call once we settled into our room. After the long drive, it was nice to sit down in the lobby and enjoy the free popcorn, soft drinks and light snack/meal with alcoholic drinks included. The rooms were clean and comfortable. At first we thought we would be able to hear the traffic from the nearby highway, but the rooms were quiet. Breakfast was the only disappointment - with salty eggs, make your own waffles and not the freshest french toast. However, overall the hotel provided great value and was in close proximity to the mall.

The value proposition is excellent - cheap nightly rate, right off a major highway (I-75), minutes to excellent shopping (Sommerset Mall) and 20 minutes to Comerica Park/Ford Field - but keep in mind that contrary to some of the reviews I read, you are getting very standard fare offerings. Service was excellent, nice pool, clean/newer facilities but it is a dressed up motel - tiny rooms, the access is great but it means you are surrounded by busy roads/highway and the quality of the mattresses were poor. We stayed with our young family for 2 nights and, while enjoyable and good value, I would not recommend staying any longer than that.

We chose this hotel for the first few nights of our road trip around Michigan and wasn't disapionted.
The staff were ery pleasant and helpful and the everywhere was spotless. The rooms were a good size and the king bed HUGE and very comfortable. We had a jaccuzzi room which was very nice. The only slight grip was a rather noisy fridge and air con.
The hotel was easy to find right off the I-75 and was good for visiting the Somerset Collection Mall (easy walking distance) and Detriot Zoo.
There were lots of food outlest nearby too but the hotel has a free breakfast and free snacks and drinks in the evening, plus free coffee and soft drinks throughout the day.
