Pro's

* Corner room (so quiet and thank you Marriott staff!)
* Very good bed
* Nice Pool
* Location to businesses and restaurants
* Up front and visible communication for elevator renovations

Con's

* Internet only offered free because I was a reward member
* No additional perks, i.e. free bottle of water, snack, etc.
* Considering the daily rate, a bit more could be done to indulge your guests
* Stairwell is dated - not a pleasant alternative to the elevator

Room Tip: With elevator renovations get a room far away and on a lower floor

Nice huge hotel for business ( far away from downtonow Detroit), rooms a bit smaller than I expected, lots of noise from the room above. Breakfast was nice, but expensive (USD 20,00). If you are driving, there many dinning options around, as well as a very fancy mall. I am not sure if I would stay there again if I had other options for the same value.

Our family booked six rooms to attend the memorial service for a family member. I booked thru Hotels.com and got an awesome rate. Staff is well trained and professional and went out of their way to meet our family's needs. The room was spotless and the bed luxuriously comfortable. Towels were thick and high quality. Halls and rooms were very quiet. Room temperature easy to adjust. We opted for the full breakfast that was discounted if purchased at the time of booking. What a glorious buffet of omelets made to order, pancakes/french toast, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, cold cereals, fresh fruits, yogurt, assorted muffins, danish and toast, etc. Juice and coffee served at the table. My only complaint is the $12.95 fee they charge for internet access.

This is my second review for this hotel, my last one was a couple of years ago. We visit Detroit often and this is our hotel of choice almost all of the time. It's a great location close to shopping, Birmingham, freeways etc. The front desk staff has to be the most accommodating staff of any hotel I have ever stayed at. Check in and out is always fast & efficient. The rooms are clean & comfortable the restaurants are decent and the staff in the lobby bar are always friendly
Great for all of the above and will be back!

If you've business in the Troy area, the Marriott is the only full service place to stay. That said, the hotel's age really shows. It's heyday has passed. The service is pure Marriott, but the elevators are slow and unreliable. Shula's steakhouse is gone, and replaced with a common, hotel lobby eatery. The rooms are clean as a whistle. The beds soft, pillows numerous, everything is is good working order, but the physical facility is just tired and not worth the $250 a night for a standard room with two beds unless you are traveling on an expense account.

I stayed here and had a great experience. Kelsey checked me in in a few mins and was extremely friendly and accomodating. My room was clean and the bed was fantastic. The pillows however were terrible. Stacked 3 on top of each other and they were still flat and unsupportive. The shower pressure was pretty good and the bathroom was the only place I could ever hear the elevators that a lot of reviewers complained about. Other than that the room was very quiet, I slept great.

The club lounge was okay. Snacks and soft drinks, I've had better in other locations.

The restaurant was pretty good. I had the burger and a salad and was very pleased with it. Prices were reasonable.

All around this hotel is very modern and nice looking. Nothing was old or dingy. The work out room is super small but will do in a pinch. I will gladly stay here again. 5 stars.

This was our first stay at this hotel after staying mainly at smaller Hampton Inn style places nearby. However, our regular places were all booked up, so we gave the Marriot a try, as the rates were still comparable to the smaller hotels. It was well located near the Somerset Mall, lots of restaurants and other shopping. We found the overall hotel, lobby and public areas to be very clean and well designed. Our kids enjoyed the pool area. Our rooms were on the small side, but well laid out, very clean and furnished very well. We couldn't figure out if this was a newer hotel (unlikely) or if it has just been refurbished recently, but either way, it was impressive. The only thing we missed from being at a smaller hotel was the lack of free wifi and free breakfast or even coffee in the lobby ($2 for a small cup at the gift shop!). We would be very interested in staying here again if they could offer a room rate that included wifi and breakfast for a reasonable amount. It still bothers me that every cheap motel along the highway includes free wifi (and breakfast!), but the full service hotels such as this one charge $13/day for wifi. There was also a lot of noise from the hallways early in the morning - our neighbors were leaving their room (multiple times?) at 6am and we could hear their door slam each time it closed. We heard the elevator noise that other reviews had complained about, but it wasn't as loud or annoying as the door slamming.

Hello Jon and thank you so much not only for choosing to stay with us, but also for taking the time to post such a thorough review of your stay! We're very sorry for your disappointment with our wifi policy and wanted to let you know that complimentary wifi is available in our great room and lobby areas. It's also offered to gold and platinum elite Marriott rewards members; perhaps our rewards program would be of interest to you! As for the noise issue with our elevator system, that is something which we will soon be addressing during our upcoming renovation. Once again, we definitely thank you and we hope to see you again soon. Safe travels!
