“Savannah's for Lunch”

Soup, sandwich and fries were terrific!
Atmosphere, in an old Victorian home, is quaint.
White linen tablecloths & napkins, fine flatware, glasses, etc.

Negatives, only slight, was music choice. To keep with the Victorian ambience, would suggest not playing rock music through the overhead speakers.
In addition, owners should continue placing period books/ knick-knacks in cabinets either side of the fireplace, rather than spare glass globes for chandeliers.

Overall though, highly recommend as a very nice restaurant conveniently located Downriver.

“Exquisite!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Nicely priced high end Trenton surprise. You will not be disappointed here. It is located in an old mansion. Bring a sweater in the winter. Great food and service.

“Eyes on the clock.”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Arriving at 5:30 we did not have a reservation. The room was completely empty, but the hostess told
us if we could eat in 1+1/2 hrs. she had a table. The pressure mounted. We were seated and the waitress was very nice. The hostess complained that she had to completely re-arrange the seating.
Our food was FABULOUS... the pecan crusted whitefish $19 and sauteed perch $17 with everything.
Too much food. Prepared very well. The only sour taste of the evening was the hostess....she made us
feel like we should never come without a RESERVATION. yikes...be prepared with restaurant plan b
if you don't have a reservation.

“Beautiful ambience, average food and music blaring from the speakers, a radio station”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

The ambieance of this place is spectacular. But the owners must not really care because the speakers were blaring loud radio music...which may have been for the staff, but if the owner cared about his/her restaurant, the music would have matched the setting. Ugh.
The food was very average on the day we went in December, but I have been there when it has been above average. I have read other reviews, and it seems to have a very hit or miss it reputation for good food and service.

“Been here twice & it's ok”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Husband & I have been here twice. The first time was after they opened and we were disappointed. First off, the restaurant is loud. That didn't change with our second visit, that's just how the acoustics are. The service for our first visit was very inexperienced. It seemed as if they had hired high school students with no prior experience. The food was ok. We had appetizers and steaks. Frankly, I can cook a better filet at home - it was all very bland & I'm not someone who puts a lot of salt on my food. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but ours was over $70 and not worth it.

Our second visit in May 2012 and it was a bit better. The service was good and more attentive/experienced. I had the Michigan cherry salad & that was tasty. My husband had some sort of fish entree & it was good. The food this time was good, but not special. I would love to like this restaurant more, but it just doesn't do it for me. My ratings are based on our most recent visit.
