We stayed at this hotel on a Sunday night (October 5, 2008) for one night. We got this room through the Traverse City Visitor's Bureau using their Fab Fall package and paid only $65 a night which was a real deal considering most hotels at this time of year still want at least $20 more a night. (The package also came with coupons for local stores and wineries and credits for the Leelanau Sands Casino.)

That being said, our experience was only mediocre. The hotel is clean and well maintained and the rooms were decent sized and clean. The bedspreads were a little dated but clean so we can't complain. When we got to the room, the air conditioning was on even though it was about 50 degrees outside! Even after turning the heat on, it was a back and forth to the heater ordeal to get the temperature right. The thermostat didn't read the right temperature apparantely, so even jacking the temperature up to 80 or 85 degrees did not keep the heat on. The one real complaint my husband and I both had was about the beds. They are rather stiff and if you're used to or like a softer or pillow-top mattress, you'll be sorely disappointed with these rather hard mattresses.

Several other reviewers have said that the hotel was not quiet at all but we didn't have this problem. Maybe it was that it was cooler outside and so no one was really at the Pirate's Cove park next door but it was very quiet during our stay. We didn't hear anyone in another room or noise outside, either.

The staff here is ok, though not outwardly helpful - at check-in, we asked about the INN-pressive club membership and didn't get much info on it and no info on how to join. Their breakfast, as others have said, was very good. Waffles, biscuits and gravy, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, pastries...

Overall our stay here was decent - a good deal for the money as long as you don't mind a stiffer mattress!

Our family stayed at the AmericInn for four nights in August. When I booked the room, we requested a non-smoking room and noted that we needed a crib for our daughter. When we arrived, the room was ready and the crib was already inside!

The room (Orchard Suite) was clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated the great free spread they had for continental breakfast each morning. They have free access to the internet so we were able to check in early for our flight home, which was much appreciated and expedited the process when we arrived at the airport.

The location was super convenient to all the places we needed to be in Traverse City, too. In the future when we go to Traverse City, we will definitely stay here!

I booked this hotel on the AmericInn website and booked a no smoking room, however, all they could offer when I arrived was smoking. The girl at front desk was not friendly. This hotel is also next to a mini golf/go cart business so unless you want to hear engines all night, I'd book elsewhere! The beds are not comfy and we had headaches all week from the heavy smoking smell in our room. The only good thing I can honestly say is that the breakfast was awesome and the older woman working when we were down on Monday morning was very kind!!

The AmericInn in Traverse City is a great deal. We stayed for 3 nights during the week for $89/night, then one Sat night for $119/night. Given the other prices I found online, this was by far the best deal in the area for such a nice place.

The lobby is very welcoming, and we had no problems at check-in. Our room was nice - 2 beds, tv, and small table. The pool was great, as was the whirlpool. There were always plenty of pool towels there also.

Breakfast was very good - a good selection of things... make-your-own waffles, biscuits & gravy, fruit, bagels, toast, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, etc.

The hotel was easy to find, but sometimes tricky to make a left out of, due to traffic. Right next door to the hotel is a Dairy Queen and Pirate's Cove adventure park -- we had fun here. Buy your mini golf tickets at the hotel for a good discount, plus they have coupons for the other tokens needed for the water coaster, goKarts, etc.

The staff at the hotel was very helpful when we had questions - overall, it was a great experience & I would recommend it for others traveling to Traverse City.

We are a family of four and this was our first visit to Traverse City. Before booking our stay I researched traveler opinions and the AmericInn got the best reviews for this price range. I can see why - the hotel is well maintained and clean, the pool and hot tub are nice (although beware of high levels of chlorine!) and beds and rooms are comfortable. For the most part the room was quiet.... any outside noise could be drowned out by running the fan or air conditioner. The breakfast included bagels, toast, biscuits/ gravy, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cold cereal, instant oatmeal, waffles (make your own), and juice from 6 - 10 am. Coffee and tea available all day.
Pros
Located right next to Pirates Cove - just walk across the parking lot and you're there! Mini golf, go-carts, water coaster, bumper boats, etc. My kids really liked this place. Oh and Dairy Queen is right there too.
Also located along the TART - Traverse Area Recreation & Transportation Trails. We rented a four-person bike and enjoyed this beautiful area.
Traverse City is an amazing area and this is a very affordable option during peak summer travel season!
Clean rooms, comfortable beds.

Cons
High traffic area. At least in early July, it is a challenge making a left turn onto Rt. 31 into Traverse City. This could also be an issue when crossing the intersections of the TART trail on foot or on a bicycle.
No direct beach access from hotel - the hotels across the street have the beach access, therefore you need to find a public beach.
Room with two queen beds can feel a little small after 3 nights; our other option was King room with sleeper sofa.

Hopefully this will help other travelers considering this hotel. Happy Traveling!

Stayed here when my son had a hockey tournament in town. The Americinn claims that they have built their rooms to be more soundproof and I found this to be true. Very comfortable beds -- I would definitely stay here again.

We had to go to TC for my class reunion and didn't want to spend alot of money. The Americinn was just right. It was very clean. Jeremy at the front desk was really nice and even let us check in early! We had a jacuzzi suite. Everything was great. Close to everything and right on the main hotel drag for half the price. Breakfast was decent. Waffles, bagels, biscuits and gravy. Just right. We will definitely stay there again.
