Just returned from a charming weekend stay at the Wellington Inn. My husband and I, along with another couple, chose to stay in the carriage house apartment as opposed to the house itself.
While we were able to enjoy all of the amenities of the main house, we were also able to kick back in the privacy of our own two bed/2 bath apartment.

We chose the Art Deco, 1930's era apartment and it was so quaint. It was decorated to a tee, and while you feel like you've been sent back in time, you are also afforded the modern day luxuries. Included were: a washer and dryer, modern stove, as well as a dish washer.

What a pleasure.............we will definitely be back again!!

Our company recently had the pleasure of staying at The Wellington for an annual Manager's Retreat. What a perfect location! Our group of nine fit well at The Wellington - and I cannot say enough about the level of service we received. From making the arrangements, to being welcomed at the door. Easy check-in, fabulous food, constant attention to detail and assisting with numerous arrangements. There was a great meeting space in the 3rd floor ballroom, and beautiful porch to have lunch and relax after dinner and each guest room beautifully appointed. I would highly recomment The Wellington for business groups - Barb, Michelle and the rest of the staff took excellent care of us. It was a real pleasure to be there.

Amazing. This place is simply amazing. The proprietors are extremely welcoming and take super-good care of the Inn. Barb welcomed us on our late arrival, gave us a half-hour intro to the place and the city and sent us to the right place for a late dinner. She checks back during the breakfast to make sure everything is good and offer suggestions for the day.

Rooms are richly and yet exceptionally tastefully appointed in the antique mansion style. Same for all common areas. Bathroom is to die for if antique stuff is your thing. 24-hr free refreshments from the kitchen. The place is smack right next to the center of the town and yet peaceful.

There are better choices if you're in Traverse City with two kids and want sand and sun in front of the hotel but for everybody else I would say you just have to try Wellington Inn.

  • Liked — Barb&Hank! Rooms!
  • Disliked — it's a bit pricey (still a great value for the terrific service)

We put together a wedding package with Barb from the wellington after our catering company tried to charge us almost double what we had talked about (not going to name names but I will name some numbers and if your from the area you will understand what company uses numbers). When I contacted the inn they said that they could handle the rooms and the reception food prep. They did and it was all perfect. Great meal, low price and high end service that rolled perfect between the wedding and the desert! The house is perfect for a formal evening and the 100 year old china was second in splendor to the bride and the guest all had nothing but raves for the affair. I wouldn't pass this place up for any other stay in traverse city.

Visited with my mom during the holidays...beautiful home filled with lovely decorations. The room was excellent, and the breakfast was memorable. Liked the third floor ballroom and kitchen. If you're an old home enthusiast, I especially recommend staying here. It's walking distance to good restaurants and downtown shopping.

  • Liked — Lovely Historic Building
  • Disliked — Almost TOO Quiet at night, if that's a complaint.
  • Tips/Secrets — I recommend the "310" restaurant nearby.

We decided to have a Northern Michigan wedding after visiting Traverse City and getting engaged there. What a beautiful place to be in September, and the Wellington Inn added so much more to that beauty!

We booked a (madatory) 2-night stay in the bridal suite (Woolsey Suite). I stayed there the night before our wedding. What a relaxing sleep! I hadn't slept that well in weeks because of the pre-wedding stress. On Saturday, the day of our wedding, both my husband and I stayed at the Inn. He was just as impressed as I was!

The decor of the Wellington was just stunning, and Barb & Hank are WONDERFUL! The breakfasts....to die for! What an amazing stay we had.

This was both our first time staying at a B&B and we were so impressed that we've decided to scope out more B&Bs in Michigan.

I went to Traverse City for a high school reunion, which really was a fizzle. However, the weekend was more than compensated for by my stay at the Wellington Inn. My room was luxurious and peaceful. The guests that I shared breakfast with were fascinating. The innkeepers were charming. I spent a couple glorious fall days exploring the Grand Traverse Bay, going to a local auction, and had a great couple of dinners within walking distance of the inn. All in all, I had a great weekend getaway.
