My second visit for a special anniversary and these are my objective complaints:
1.Waiter brought wrong bottle of wine
2. Appetizer not prepared as specified-was lacking cheese as stated in menu
3. 2 very scant pieces of cold bread served to table
4. Quite small pasta portion of not more than 4 ounces of pasta served swimming in marinara sauce with 4 very small walnut sized meatballs
5. Porchetta almost invisible in marinara sauce
6. Told by waiter that the kitchen was unable to make any special dietary changes to menu items other than omitting butter--stated kitchen just too busy

Just not the fine dining experience I was hoping for.

Great menu - hard to make a selection since there were so many great choices. Service was very attentive and responsive. Staff is very interested in making certain you have an enjoyable dining experience. Nice wine selection. Very nice romantic ambience. A definite must visit on our next trip to TC.

Heard so many great reviews on this place but.......small portions.....food was just OK..nothing special for the price...I guess I was expecting classic Italian fare...Service was top notch though.. and yeah the thought of being in the old state institution was sorta creepy......

We were very pleased to find a table around 7:00 during the TC Wine, art and Music Festival. We were torn between so many great looking menu items, but decided on a couple of asparagus dishes, (very good), a homemade burratta (excellent!!!) a lamb tartare (also very good) and a seafood pasta dish. The pasta part was a bit disappointing as it seemed more "tough" than al dente, and the squid ink tortellini component, though wonderful in concept, was also dried tasting; its shrimp filling seemed almost too strong and almost a bit off. The croistini served with several of the dishes, while plentiful, was something you could almost break a tooth on.
The place was very busy, with the festival and all, but the biggest problem was the all too common "poor finish" of the service. After getting the check, we waited at least ten minutes for our waitress to return to pick it up, and I asked for $6.00 back from a $20.00 for the tip. We waited at least 15 minutes for her to return with the change! We had to wonder if it wasn't the old ploy of "if they get tired of waiting they will just leave and I'll keep all the change"! Even after twice complaining about the situation to the hostess (we had a 45 minute drive ahead of us) there was no sign of our waitress and we waited another 5 minutes for our change. I was tempted to ask for the whole $20.00 back! Yes, it was very busy, but this is the type of thing you just don't ignore, especially when trying to turn tables on a busy night. From the time we got doggie bags and were ready to go, and the time we actually left, 30 minutes passed. I felt sorry for those waiting for our table as well! I have dined at Stellas often over the years, but this visit really left a bad impression on this fellow restaurant owner.

Had dinner there with seven family members. This restaurant is in a former mental institution, needless to say very interesting place. It is a farm to table based restaurant. Again needless to say the menu is very interesting and is updated daily based on what is freshest from the farm or field. Our table was in the former root cellar/file room. The food and service was outstanding. Our server Stewart was knowledgeable, humorous, and enthusiastic. Our group had some of the following entrees: Wild boar tenderloin, fresh caught walleye, chicken galantine, and veal chops. They have fresh pasta on the menu that also was very interesting.

Just a brief note one earlier review mentioned that salad was not included in the meal and wrote a bad review. Obviously this person doesn't have any concept what "fine" dining really is !
