My husband and I stopped by Higher Grounds, located at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons, on the site that was once a mental asylum, as recommend by the Tasty Traverse Self-Guided Foodie Tour. It is the hospital’s former laundry building. We ordered a café au lait and a latte and sat outside to enjoy our coffee with a scone purchased from Pleasanton Bakery, across the street. The coffees were excellent. There is a large viewing window into the roastery so you can watch the beans being roasted and prepared for sale.
