We decided to go the Boathouse for our anniversary. Nice menu variety. The rack of lamb was very good and the scallops were good but not spectacular. Wait staff was on their game and the best part of the visit. We were a bit surprised that a restaurant in the middle of Northern Michigan wine country was serving very average Oregon house wines. The Pinot Noir was almost watery and lacked the body I would expect. The restaurant was noisy making it impossible to have conversation. Great service, above average food, poor wine selection and high prices. Not a place for a quiet dinner.

Been there twice now with my niece another real foodie like me. Great atmosphere with views of GT Bay. Excellent menu choices and appetizers. Wine selections are also great. It ain't cheap but well worth it. Wait staff is attentive and professional but not hovering or rushing...I think we were the last one's out. Definitely on the return-to list.

The experience started out wonderful with a very nice and helpful server and the food was very good but... as we were finishing our meal all of the sudden the lights got really bright - which ruined the ambience. The servers started gathering around the bar checking their phones and it seemed like some one told the help to stop working! As we walked out of the restaurant, none of the help looked up from their phones and nobody said anything to us. It was not a good feeling - especially after spending a lot of money. Hopefully, the owners/management will rectify this situation because it could cause us not to return in the future. This was our third visit to this restaurant.

We ate here on a recommendation from a local. The restaurant is located on a scenic area of the bay on Mission Peninsula. The sunsets are beautiful and can be enjoyed from inside the restaurant, or from the seating area outside. They had a good wine list and cocktails from the bar were tasty. Don't miss the Morel mushroom bisque. This has to be some of the best soup I have ever tasted. We ordered Kobe beef strip steaks as our main entree, and I must say that I was not impressed. The flavor was good and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. However, the steaks were a bit tough for Kobe beef. If I had ordered prime beef it would have been okay, but for a high dollar piece of Kobe it was not very tender. The desert menu was decent. The service was very good and friendly. We were led to believe that this was a suit and tie kind of place, but sailboat casual seems to rule here.

This is our second visit. We were here 2 years ago and at that time we were not that impressed given the $$$$. We decided to try again to see if there were improvements. The staff was definitely more friendly this time around. Our service was good. The food is also not bad, however the "special" New York strip was $75. Ridiculous. Our food was average. No real complaints but you are paying big bucks for a pretty view.
