“This no foufou, pt. 2”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

Second visit this Spring. Again very nice. Ths potato and leek soup was not as silky smooth as previous but a nice meal. The wine list is good, not great. The food and desserts were very good. Service a little hurried. I would not hesitate to return and will w every visit to Traverse City. Evidently the menu at the opening last year was a little too cutting edge rustic French but has pulled back to more standard fare.

“A culinary delight!”
Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

Fantastic service and exceptional food. Sea scallops prepared to creamy perfection and creme brûlée to swoon over. Atmosphere a little cold, but food and service certainly made up the difference.

“This no foufou”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Bistro Foufou is new and in the site of the departed Hanna. This is a serious improvement. Excellent variety of starters , salads and entrees. I think when first opened that the menu was too rustic French but now things have come back from the edge and I think there is something for everyone interested in fine dining, The wine list is broad and fairly priced. We had a white 2010 CDP for $55 which was fine. One of the specials was a warm, thick, creamy leek and potatoe soup that I could eat again and again. My Coquille St Jacques was a little unconventional made without cheese but it came with saffron cauliflower. The others had walleye and porkchop and everyone seemed pleased. I have one complaint which is that the service was not leisurely enough. In my mind Foufou would be ranked third in the area behind Stella and La Becasse.

“Great lunch, so-so dinner”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

I had a plan to go for a birthday lunch in a few days when friends suggested going for dinner. The dinner was not a success. I usually can find many things on a menu, but nothing 'called' to me. So go for something new and different: the pork belly. This is something to order only when you have great faith in the restaurant, right? Ooh, a big disappointment. One person's fish was less than stunning.

But I didn't want to cancel the b'day lunch because the honoree was looking forward to trying the new restaurant. Totally different experience. I could have ordered anything; everything called to me from the lunch menu. We had a great lunch.

I'll give dinner another try.
