Grey Hare Inn
Ranked #8 of 19 Traverse City B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 14, 2006

The Grey Hare Inn is a wonderful french-styled bed and breakfast situated on a hillside on Old Mission Peninsula amidst rolling hills of orchards and grape vines. The Peninsula is home to several wineries (and tasting rooms) and is bordered on both sides with the cobalt blue water of the Grand Traverse Bay. The Inn is quiet, beautifully decorated and the most serene vacation spot I have ever encountered. Additionally, and very important to me, is the wonderful attention paid to the cleanliness of the rooms. The food is exquisitely presented and wonderful to the palate. What is more, the owner/innkeeper is a delightful woman and interesting conversationalist. This is a magnificent place to go for rejuvenation or as your spot to come "home" to after visiting wineries, biking/hiking the pensinula and nearby beaches (with lighthouse), or watersports on the bay.

I recently stayed at the Grey Hare Inn and were delighted with this outstanding B&B. Upon request, we arrived to a bottle of local wine and an excellent assortment of exotic cheeses, which set the stage for the entire visit. Although the owners of the inn were away during our stay, the inn’s keepers made us feel like family and kept our palettes dancing and our bodies relaxed.

The Italian farmhouse was perfect for its perch atop rolling hills filled with the winery grapes that adorn the peninsula. The bed was extremely comfortable, probably better than my own, there was not a detail that went unnoticed.

Breakfast was truly gourmet. True Italian style crepes (morel mushrooms-so good!), pears soaked win red wine, awesome pastries, and more! To top it off, they were extremely accommodating of our vegetarian diet, even serving soy meats with breakfast! I cannot give this B&B a high enough rating. The only down side is there are only 3 rooms (all perfect). All I can say is you will not be disappointed with your visit!
