This is probably the best theater in which I have ever seen a movie. It is beautiful, comfortable, with the seating arranged to that all the seats are good. Since I was there during the film festival, they had live music before the film which was really fun.

The Traverse City, MI State Theatre is a real gem! Watch GOOD movies in comfortable, roomy seats, in attractive surroundings (no gum on chairs here!). Enjoy popcorn that has not been popped in unhealthy oil or article butter....and it is only $2.00. The pop is $2.00 too! Every Wednesday at 11:00 is an old classic movie for 25 cents. I could go on and on with all this wonderful theatre has to offer. Stop by and see for yourself!

This place is truly a breathtaking place to go and see movies. It is all renovated inside, but still has the old theatre charm. The ceiling is gorgeous because before the movies begin there are twinkling stars on it. It is a unique, charming place to visit. The popcorn is also very good and they have a nice candy selection to choose from. The seats in the theatre are beyond comfortable and make the movie that much more enjoyable. I have no bad things to say about this place! Go to the state theatre if you want to make great memories.:)

I stopped going to see most movies because I didn't like the tiny theaters, poor service, sound coming through walls and lousy seats. Then they reopened the State Theater...great movies, comfortable seats and an AWESOME sound and projection system!

Join as a Friend of the State Theater to save on (already reasonable) ticket prices. Matinees are a bargain, and I usually get my favorite seats (left aisle balcony). Fresh popcorn and friendly staff, too.

Now it's been voted #1 in the world - but I already knew that...

Was just given that distinction in some publication.... Truly a "gem" of a theatre. Wonderful Film Festival which just ended last weekend.
