We visited Boardman Lake and found the trail which borders the east side just beautiful with the fall color. We parked in the south parking area and rode up the 2 mile trail to Hull Park and the Grand Traverse Children's Garden. It is very level with the wooden bridges and planked walkways constructed over otherwise difficult terrain in some areas. What a wonderful place. The 75 degree weather made it ideal for a mid-October afternoon and highly recommended for those not too ambitious in their biking excursions. One could continue further on the TART trail system if a longer workout is desired.

We rode about half the trail, starting mid-point and riding north into Sutton's Bay. The trail is smooth, in great shape, and runs through peaceful countryside. This is a wonderful amenity for the area. We also rode the new 5 miles from Glen Arbor to the Dune Climb. That's a really pretty ride as well.

I decided to rent a bike and leave from Cherrybend road to Suttons Bay on Mother's Day. I encountered a detour while the trail is being finished to Sutton's Bay. I discovered for the first time in 30 years just how breathtaking Leelanau County truly is with it's farms, vineyards and horse ranches. I now have rediscovered Northern Michigan with a deeper appreciation for my home. I love the little market just outside Sutton's Bay where I was able to rest. My goal is to bike the entire trail by next year with an ergonomically correct bike to reduce sore muscles. We are blessed with the best outdoor nature trails for pure exercise. Only in Pure Northern Michigan. I also walk and bike the trail on 5 mile where a view of the bay for half the pay is physically and mentally rewarding.
