“Upscale room with a great view!”
Reviewed June 22, 2007

We stayed here 2 nights in June and loved our stay. We paid extra for a lake-front room and have no regrets-would highly recommend if you like looking out your balcony at the lake. First rate property since it was recently refurbished. It looks like everything is brand new. The staff was absolutely accomodating and prompt when we needed additional towels. Location was a little east of the downtown scene, but within a 5 minute drive and perfect for us. Highly recommended property!

  • Liked — Well maintained and excellent view!
  • Disliked — No complaints - perfect for us.

Will definitely stay here again, very clean and nicely decorated rooms. Great location, right on the water with a nice beach.

The hotel was very nice. Everyone was friendly. The view was beautiful with beautiful sunsets. The indoor pool was way to hot in the water and the air temperature was 91 degrees. The whirlpool was too hot to even stick your legs in. The breakfast in the morning wasn't very good. They kept running out of food. The breakfast went until 10:30 and we got there about 9:00 and the donuts were gone and they had waffles that someone would make for you, but she was never there and when she did come out of the back, she said she wasn't use to so many people being there at that time. One time, she went to fill up the hard boiled eggs and didn't come back out for 10 minutes. There was no milk for cereal or to drink. It wasn't very organized.

We stayed at the Sugar Beach for Mothers Day weekend 2007. The room was a beachfront walkout with two queen beds. (hard to find queens instead of doubles) It was very nicely decorated and clean. This hotel is directly on the beach as where many other hotels in Traverse are not. It is location is great. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very good, the Waffles were great! An indoor pool was clean and so was the hot tub. Overall a I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
