The Bums are great. Every inning break there is some kind of entertaining promotion. great spirit and fun. Easy to get the best seats you'll ever have for a ball game. Super family friendly and clean park.

Strange way to list a baseball team ( by its park). I wouldn't go to Wuerfel Park for a picnic or rally. but anyway, back to the Beach Bums, This is a great way to spend a few hours. Tickets cost $12 ( for regular seats, $5 for lawn space) and parking (plenty of it and CLOSE to the stadium) is $2. The Traverse City Beach Bums are in the independent Frontier league. For those from Chicago, this is the same league as the Windy City Thunderbolt and the Shaumberg Boomers. The game has the usual Bush league activities between innings, Tossing T shirts, or kids racing the mascot. The park is new, immaculate and comfy. Bathrooms are good, food options are limited (technically, you are prohibited from bringing your own food into the park). We chose a 5:00 PM game which was perfect, It was til light when the game was over. When I am UP North, I would definitely go again.

Catching a game at Wuerfel Park is a classic minor-league baseball experience. And I mean that in a good way. There's not a bad seat in the house. There are the typical giveaways and mascot interactions. Prices are a lot less than they are in the big leagues.

The food is nothing remarkable, but the recent addition of some Michigan craft brews to the drink options helps overcome the otherwise stereotypical ballpark fare.

Heck, you can even sit on the lawn beyond the home run fences and make a picnic out of the evening. Plus, if you go on Friday nights, the fireworks are an added bonus.

So what's not to like? Sure, it would be great if there were, say, views of the water from the ballpark. Or maybe if it were closer to town you could walk from your house or hotel room. It'd be nice if the scoreboard (or the announcer) told us baseball geeks if that was ruled a passed ball or wild pitch. But those are gripes, not objections.

You're out to watch a ball game. And this is a very nice place to do that.

What an impressive facility. As part of a couple day stay in the Traverse City area, for the first time, I convinced my girlfriend to check out a baseball game at Wuerfel Park on a Friday night. The atmosphere was first rate for an Independent League team and the park was beautiful and clean. Everything from the PA to the mascots and staff were first rate and had us smiling the entire night. The fireworks display after were on par with the local lake at homes Fourth of July shows. Loved it!

I am not a baseball fan, the game is just to slow. The facility is new and very well done. We had seats with a table and great views. There are all kinds of food to buy while there and also beer. But of course like most places like this it is not cheap, the food that is. This is good family entertainment and I think on Friday nights they have fireworks after the game. I base my rating of average because I am not a baseball fan. But the facility would be excellent. The night I was there the game went on to 16 innings, we left early.
