“SO COOL!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2012

This place blew my mind! A local told us the story of how the state's largest asylum, now not functioning, had been turned into a shopping center and we HAD to check it out. You get to wonder the halls of the creepy, old asylum checking out quirky art shops! There are a couple restaurants that smell amazing (we didnt eat there). Everyone suggests Stella's for the great atmosphere. I say check out Fridrich's Furs! If you're looking to buy one, thats the place. The furs are harvested locally and you get to meet the furrier who makes all the beautiful pieces.

“unique building and grounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

The award-winning restoration of the old institution deserves its Governor's Award, as it is a careful and stylish restoration of a huge building. It's very enjoyable to meander through, poking into the various boutique shops and studying the intriguing wall photo displays of the building's history. We also enjoyed strolling the extensive parklands.

“Very cool”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

This is a former insane asylum that has been converted to quaint artistic-type shops and eating places, as well as apartments and condos. But they kept as much of the old buildings' character as possible. It's a work in progress, but we loved what we saw.

“Friend's store”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

Have a friend that owns a store there and just had to visit. Parking was not good and trying to find your way around was almost impossible. Store prices are high but you get what you pay for.

Very interesting and unique shops-can't wait to come back and have time to see them all. Make sure that you have time to be able to see everything there.
