Description: Est. 1932, Traverse City's 2nd Oldest Tavern, started as a hot dog stand with curb side service, outdoor seating, annual ritual of making sauerkraut, and a Speak Easy in the basement. One evening the owner was held up by a couple of Capone’s men, warning him he’d better get his liquor from Capone or else! They were chased off by an employee who was able to sneak to his truck and get his shotgun. Located in the heart of “Little Bohemia” the original owner named it in honor of the Bohemian community; expansions in 1933 and 1947 made it an icon and a premier destination in the city’s West End District. It also basks in the glory of Sir Walter Hagen. The golf legend made a daily stop to “hold court”, play bumper pool and have a few drinks. He lovingly referred to it as his “home away from home.” In 1961, Arnold Palmer won his 1st British Open win; he received a “congratulations” call from Walter Hagen; the call was made from Little Bohemia. Stop by and take in some great local history!

I had lunch at Little Bohemia in Traverse City, MI. Ordered the Olive Burger and it was fabulous. The owner was very friendly.

Not really sure why this is the #6 restaurant in TC. We went there on a Wednesday night, they had a...um...band? consisting of a guy playing a cello and a lady singing. Horrible.

Service wasn't very good. We weren't sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or if there was a hostess, and I noticed a couple of other couples standing around wondering the same and walk out. It took a while to get drinks and then when we ordered our food, the waitress asked my wife how she wanted her salmon done...what? It's salmon - you cook it until it's done!

When the food came out, the salmon was raw in the middle. We didn't see the waitress again until she brought the bill, and honestly we were tired of the "band" and we paid and left.

I hope we hit them on an off night...

Rick G,

We are #6 on TripAdvisor because we serve quality food, at a fair price, in a clean environment, with great service. We are blessed with loyal local and yes visitors who have come in, seat themselves, as we are a casual dining establishment (a tavern) where when guests enter, they are greeted with a “Hi, sit wherever you like, we’ll be right with you.” Chances are you will be greeted in this manner, not once, but twice, that is unless we are busy, or perhaps the servers are all at a table taking an order from a customer.

We had a DUO, not a band playing. The lovely lady singing has a beautiful, beautiful voice and the gentleman accompanied her on his Stand Up Base. As clearly indicated on the menu, the Salmon is poached. And as such we ask the customer how they want it done; Rare, Medium or Well as there are people out there in the world who like their Salmon cooked to different temperatures just like a steak.

We are sorry to hear that you felt your service was slow, but to claim that you “didn't see your server until the she brought the bill” seems quite unfair as we make it point to check with every table several times during a visit.

Thank you for your review..

Great service outstanding food. Feels like you're family....if you're lucky with your family.
Feels like it was 40 years ago. Much of the food is home made and shows the care and talent used to
create these authentic dishes. We visit regularly and always bring our visitors.

I've been coming here since it was just Li'l Bo's and I'm so pleased with what Nancy has done with it. Bohemian food? Sweet! And the service is still the same friendly, individualized care we've always loved. The olive burger is the best anywhere, but now there's calamari, mussels and all sorts of other fun things. I met friends for drinks the other day and we had the "Triangles," which sound like simple fare (deep-fried mozzarella with marinara sauce) but somehow made us feel all fancy. This place is well-known by locals and always highly recommended.
