Description: Est. 1932, Traverse City's 2nd Oldest Tavern, started as a hot dog stand with curb side service, outdoor seating, annual ritual of making sauerkraut, and a Speak Easy in the basement. One evening the owner was held up by a couple of Capone’s men, warning him he’d better get his liquor from Capone or else! They were chased off by an employee who was able to sneak to his truck and get his shotgun. Located in the heart of “Little Bohemia” the original owner named it in honor of the Bohemian community; expansions in 1933 and 1947 made it an icon and a premier destination in the city’s West End District. It also basks in the glory of Sir Walter Hagen. The golf legend made a daily stop to “hold court”, play bumper pool and have a few drinks. He lovingly referred to it as his “home away from home.” In 1961, Arnold Palmer won his 1st British Open win; he received a “congratulations” call from Walter Hagen; the call was made from Little Bohemia. Stop by and take in some great local history!

You have to love the owner and the staff. The food is even better than the people and that is hard to do. We stop here a few times a year (usually in the winter) to enjoy the music, food, and friends. The summer gets a bit more challenging due to the summer visitors but we still try to find a more quiet evening. The Chiefs Specials are always a treat being prepared by a person who likes and cares about their craft. If you want fancy go elsewhere. If you want local flavor and a good atmosphere this place is worth the stop. Prices are reasonable and their specials are traditional ethnic cooking. Enjoy!

We stopped there after reading the reviews, and were greeted with a friendly face and warm delicious food. The waitress even gave us suggestions on what to do while we are here! I'd suggest this place to tourists or locals!

We went for the food, the perch is excellent, but ran into an old friend and had a great time. Our daughter told us about seeing Billy Strings and Don Julin at Little Bohemia and suggested we check it out, am so glad that we did. Thanks Nancy for the conversation, excellent food and drink and a great atmosphere. This is a great Traverse City landmark!!!

We came to TC from Grand Rapids for a getaway with little knowledge of local fair, we chose Little Bohemia based off the great reviews and were not disappointed. Great service by both owner and our waitress...
Hubby had a burger and fries, wifey had the TC Grinder with potato chips. Live music was enjoyable, little loud but we knew that going in. Definitely a place we will return every time we're back up here!
