Clean, spacious, safe, great location to the dunes and Traverse City. As a newbie camper, staying here with my was a great experience. Felt safe. Showers and bathrooms were really clean! Make reservations in advance. This gem books up fast for the season.

Very quiet, safe environment, perfect for kids on bicycles. Was a little bummed that we could not ride bikes on trails, walking only. Although it was the 4th of July week, it didn't feel crowded. We drove up to Traverse City almost everyday. If we ever go back to that area we would try and camp closer to TC. But if you want to canoe, or float down a river, you are in the right place, it looked fun, and convenient. We put the sun to bed every night over MI lake, where the beach was not crowded at all, The only con was that we had to buy tokens to take a shower, 50 cents for 3 min., I understand why they do it, to keep the kids from playing, and wasting water, but they should at least give each camper a few free ones.

The lots are huge and have cement pads. We were able to get a 33 ft trailer in. Very private, and quiet. The bath house is very clean. Close to beaches, scenic drives and the Sleeping Bear Dunes. There is hiking, tubing and kayaking close by. This is a beautiful part of Michigan.

We were able to check in and get a first-come-first-serve site and we weren't too far from the restrooms/showers. However, we weren't so close to the showers or other campsites that it was noisy. The restrooms were just cleaned before we had arrived and the showed were clean, with hot water and ventilated.

When we arrived and I first had interactions with the staff, I knew I wouldn't want to stay at this campground ever again.

Staff were rude and intimidating. We were "title threatened" by the volunteer of the campground who used his position as a volunteer to intimidate and dominate campers: "I'm serious, I am the volunteer at this campground!" who stalked our site and kids to "make sure" rules were being followed, he even made my 4 year-old cry.

We received warning slips for our truck not being on paved roads, which were on paved roads except 1 tire which was maybe an inch off the pavement but in gravel with no vegetation around. There is NO playground for kids. You HAVE TO PAY to Shower, which according to the staff "2 to 3 minutes of water per dollar" (they don't even know how much time you get, and apparently the time varies).

When our family stayed, it was determination to get away from the campground that had us adventure, not an itinerary. I will say the sites were nice, and not on top of each other. However, I will never return to this campground again, and strongly suggest others to review other campgrounds before hand. Also, the mosquito count is insane (and we are frequent campers) and I don't think bears even exist in the area anymore.
