“AMAZING!”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

Myself and a couple of friend stayed at the Chateau Chantal June 20th for a friend’s birthday. From the time we arrived until the time we left it was an amazing experience. We had two rooms, the Behrens suite, and the Morisot suite. Both were very nice however I liked the Behrens suite better because it was larger. At check out we were allowed to view the other rooms as well. During our stay we had the pleasure of attending the Wine Dinner it was well worth the money. Even if you dont have a chance to stay there I would highly recommend the wine dinner. After the dinner we went the rest of the evening enjoying the fantastic views from the deck area. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was delicious. We are already planning our next stay!

My fiance and I stayed here on a trip through Michigan last summer. The views were beautiful and the grounds were so relaxing. We enjoyed trying different wines and the delicious breakfast! We hope to go back this summer!

Beautiful hilltop location. Great concept of a combined winery / B&B. Wonderful service. Popular with couples, but also very family-friendly.

My only recommendation for the suggestion box would be that they improve the food & wine options & service for their gorgeous terrace outside the wine tasting room. Currently, you can purchase wine or food items from a 7-Eleven style refrigerator at a cashier and take them outside, self-serve style. I'm not sure if this is simply a licensing or permitting issue for food & wine consumption on the premises or a missed opportunity by management. But I know I would have stuck around longer & spent more if Chateau Chantal had servers waiting on the outdoor tables and better food options. Lots of people were lingering around on the terrace, taking photos of the water and the vineyard, but I never saw any workers approach them offering to bring them food or beverages.

My husband and I went at the very end of the traveling season (November), so we had a lot of attention focus on our visit. We had one on one wine tasting (very yummy wines) with a very knowledgable wine enthusiast, a personal and indepth tour of the distillery process and vineyard. The rooms were clean and had a beautiful view of the vineyard. Breakfast was delicious and artfully put together.

Chateau Chantal has a magical sounding name and lives up to it! Driving there on Old Mission Peninsula sets the stage for what will unfold ~ the vineyards, friendly and knowledgeable staff, plus views of the bay. We learned many details about vine growing, their wine making process and the philosophy of its owners who are remarkable people. Bob and Nadine (husband and wife) actually prepared, welcomed and served our breakfast which was made from scratch! It was also refreshing to experience "being on the honor" system during off hours with the wine tasting. A warm and charming time!

We stayed here mid April and it was gorgeous! The views are breathtaking in every direction and it is so peaceful. The sunsets are like a movie backdrop. As a guest, you will have full run the tasting room, dining room, and bed and breakfast. You feel like you live there and the visitors are coming there to see you :) The breakfasts were tasty and filling. I believe we have started an annual tradition, we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: All rooms are suites, except Cassatt bedroom, which is right next door to Owner's home. Kind of...

We wanted a close getaway destination for a couple days with our daughters. Chateau Chantal was a wonderful destination in Traverse City. It is nestled on the Old Mission Peninsula with breathtaking views of the bay. I prefer vacation destinations with a little history and off the beaten path but many B&B's were still closed during the off-season. Chateau Chantal was not only open in the off-season but had a wonderful off-season rate. The views from our room rivaled those from photos I've seen snapped from the grounds of European chateaus. The breakfasts were simple and simply delicious. Sourdough strata, fresh fruit, french toast, lovely! The owners live on the grounds and are friendly and warm when they greet you. The tour of the winery was interesting and informative. This was a wonderful getaway to a very special place. Our room was clean to a high standard. The only suggestion I would have is that the mattress in the Monet suite be replaced, it was feeling rather worn but not enough to ask for another room. We will definitely go back to Chateau Chantal but it sounds like it might be a while, as we were informed, weekend getaways are being booked far off in the future. I can certainly see why, it is a gem!

Greetings,

Thank you for the excellent review. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused by the bedding in the Monet Suite. We have completed updates on the Monet Spring 2012 and have upgraded the bed to a new king size bed and mattress.

We do hope to see you again here at Chateau Chantal!

Many thanks,
