My husband, teenage son and I spent three nights at Crystal Mountain to play golf and attend the three-day Golf School. We then drove to Treetops Golf Resort in Gaylord and spent two nights to play golf. Night and day difference between the two places. I guess they both call themselves a resort, but Treetops was a dump. Crystal Mountain, however, was a true resort. The place looks like a little village and everything is within walking distance. At Treetops, you had to drive miles to get to the golf courses from your lodging. At Crystal Mountain, you just walk over to the pro shop and hop in your cart and off you go. The Golf School was outstanding - it was the best golf instruction we've ever had. Everything was run perfectly at the Golf School - the golf pros were wonderful and patient. The golf course were really beautiful. We stayed at a two bedroom condo and it was clean and modern (Treetops hasn't been updated in decades. Seriously). We had breakfast every morning at the Wild Tomato and dinner at The Thistle. The menu was great and the wine list decent. They had an outdoor patio that was really lovely to have dinner on that overlooked one of the golf holes. They also gave us a tour of the wonderful spa, but we did not have time to use it on this trip. They also had free wireless in the condo, which we greatly appreciated (none at Treetops in our room). We are definitely going back to Crystal Mountain.

We had 114 attend our family reunion at Crystal Mountain over July 4th weekend. It was perfect. Can't think of a single thing we would change. Sarah Wild was our planning coordinator and she thought of everything and was professional and friendly throughout. There was something to do for every age group and our accommodations were exactly what we wished for.

Everything was great. The food at the Thistle was very good but a bit pricey. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Mountain Course was one of the nicest I've played this year.

This was our second trip to Crystal Mountain. We really enjoy staying here, and our kids love it! The alpine slide is a big hit with everyone, and we also love the pools/ outdoor movies/ family campfire/ and other various activities. The individual activities can get expensive, as most are an additional fee, so try to go when they have a deal on the package with unlimited slide rides/ free golf after 3pm/ free bike rental after 3pm/ and free climbing wall after 3pm. This really helps. Also bring you own t-shirts for the kids to tie-dye. Costs $3 as opposed to buying a shirt there for $12. Also a good location to make a trip into Traverse City, or visit the dunes for other things to do. We like to stay at the Inn at the Mountain because the room has a pull down Murphy bed which the kids love, and the queen bed is in a seperate room with a door. Also has a little kitchenette with coffee maker, microwave, fridge, and is stocked with plates, glasses and other kitchen gadgets. We will definetly be back!

This was our first visit to Michigan, as well as Crystal Mountain. We got a FANTASTIC deal. I found it on their site and called and confirmed, then scheduled with the people at the resort. We have 3 girls, ages 7, 11, 13. Everyone had something to do! We were able to spend quality family time together, as well as try some things on our own that interested each of us individually. My only suggestion is to stay in a suite with more than one room that also has an outdoor balcony or patio, so that your family can spread out as needed. We stayed in the Crystal Colony and it was basically a hotel room with a microwave and refrigerator, no enough room!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage by the water park. We had 4 Adults w/ a 7yr old and 1 yr old. A kingsize bed in one room and 2 Queens in the other room. Our 7 yr old son slept on the pull-out couch. Our friends stayed in a 3 bedroom cottage by the water park which had 4 adults and 3 kids. They enjoyed that because the kids could be noisy upstairs, while the Grandparents had some peace downstairs. The cottages were very clean with all the appliances you would have at home. The service was excellent. The cottage was treated like a hotel room. House cleaning would come around everyday around noon and clean your cottage if you would like. Most days we just took clean towels. All the employees were very nice and helpful. One night I called the front desk asking where to take garbage and somebody was sent over in minutes to pickup garbage. Things like this happened a few times, which was very impressive. The best thing about the resort is the water park. We had a very hot week and spent every day at the water park. The kids absolutely loved the water park! This worked out good for the adults who wanted to golf or go to the spa. The parents would rotate spending time with kids at the pool and golfing. The water parks deepest end is only 4ft and there are about 4 lifeguards on duty constantly walking around the pool. This gave a nice sense of safety. Other things we did and enjoyed was the Alpine Slide, Rock Wall, Mountain Hike, and family campfire. I highly recommend this as your next vacation spot.

We had a fabulous time at Crystal Mountain at their "Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration" weekend. I don't have time to list all the wonderful details, but we were anticipating huge crowds and loud screaming children at a "circus". We were pleasantly surprised that the resort was full, but not crowded. Busy, but no long waits. And the Carnival was not a circus at all...it WAS a wonderful old fashioned carnival with fun games (spin the wheel, toss a ring, face painting, etc). run by Crystal Mountain employees, not questionable looking carnival guys. Our package also included a trip on the Alpine Slide, a ride on the Chair Lift, a family climb on the climbing wall, 4 free ice cream cones, and free carnival tickets. It was wonderful to (for once) not have to pay extra for everything at a resort. Our Inn Suite accomodations were 5 Star and within close walking distance to everything (we didn't use our car once!)
