I never make comments or reviews but this is an exception. When we arrived Saturday July 1 at 4:30 the yard was full of geese and their droppings. When we finally got the door open it was apparent the cottage had not been cleaned. In fact it appeared this was the first time it was open for the season. Very unclean and unsanitary. Had to use the rest room. took pics and cleaned it first. No hot water. The representative arriived, a very pleasant young man trying to be helpful but had no clue. After all its not his job, he just books. Tried to get water heater to work. By 8:00 it was apparent we were not staying here. Fortunatetly we live approximately an hour and a half away so we made it home exhausted but before dark. Needless to say we did not enjoy the 4th of July fire works in Tawas. I visited this cottage a few years back and loved it and that is way we booked it for the 4th. This is a great location and an adorable cottage when cared for. All the towels and bedding were very old and had to be there a long time. Windows and frames in dire need of repair. What a shame for such a great place. I am writing this solely hoping the owner gets this information so they may ensure this situation does not occur in the future.
My family and I had an excellent time. It was nice being by the water and the weather was great, except for one hard storm. We enjoyed watching for the two eagles that would come by every once in a while early morning. The house was cozy with lots of moose paraphernalia around and the kitchen was well supplied.
Everything was near us, restaurants, grocery stores, souvenir shops and we were next-door to a pizza parlor. We walked to the beach whenever we wanted. I would like to go back again sometime!
