“Didn't quite live up to the hype....”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

The wait was long, but expected on a Sunday morning in late July. However, as it turns out, it wasn't really worth the wait. The huevos rancheros were without real taste..two eggs atop two leathery tortillas. Nondescript salsa on the side. We ordered the refried beans at an extra coat of $2. It appeared to be an icecream scoop of refried beans which were dried and crusty on the outside. The chips and dip consisted of a thin layer of broken up tri-color tortilla chips (can you say bottom of the bag?) on a dinner plate with the same nondescript salsa. On the bright side, my son enjoyed his pancakes. The patio was pleasant, but the food was definitely not worth the 45 minute wait!

“Great breakfast”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

We enjoyed breakfast here. The pancakes and bacon were done well and it was enjoyable to sit on the patio. But it was a little pricey for what we got. Breakfast for 3, including one person eating granola and yogurt was over $40 with tip.

“The omelot I had was way over cooked and dry. It was a seafood omelot, and I only had one forkful of seafood. I actually should ”
Reviewed July 22, 2012 via mobile

Way over rated. The omelet they made me I could have made better myself. They only had a tiny bit seafood in it for I only got one forkfull. The omelet was dry and mostly awful. Sorry I did not send it back. Drive to Northport , a few miles and have a really good breakfast at the North End.

“Stop for a Bite Halfway to the Pole”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

We use the 45th Parallel Cafe as the turning point for the bike trek on the Rails-to-Trails from Traverse City. The Trail spits the rider right into the Cafe, which is on the main street in Suttons Bay.
The restaurant is good and often crowded, so we normally stroll while waiting down to the marina and beach to see what's going on. Service is cheerful and the menu changes occasionally to cater for new taste adventures: variations on Eggs Benedict, or the incorporation of local smoked fish.
In the winter, we will eat snug inside, but the patio in front of the cafe is a great place to sit; there's is plenty of room in the shade of a large tree.
(The Trail is to be extended 12 miles along the former railroad track to Northport, so in future we will likely be stopping to eat at the 45th on the way up and on the way back...)

“Disappointed”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

After biking 15 miles from Traverse City on the wonderful bike trail, we were excited to get a table outside at the 45th Parallel. Our waitress was okay, not outstanding, but more importantly, the chicken salad sandwich was the WORST chicken salad I have ever had. It was advertised as a dish with dried cherries and there was not a single dried cherry in the entire sandwich, ditto for my sister who ordered the same thing. We complained to the waitress who offered to bring some cherries separately, but it seems like they would have been mixed into the chicken salad, not thrown on top! We both agreed it tasted like something you might get at a deli at a grocery store, rather tasteless and certainly not worth the $8 price tag (with tortilla chips, no less!). To top it off, it took 40 minutes to get our food when it didn't seem as if they were all that crowded. Our husbands' sandwiches, the tuna melt and the chicken club, were both tasty so there's hope if we go back there another time. If the waitress had been a bit more attentive, given our 40 minute wait for food, that might have softened the blow a bit. Next time we're in Sutton's Bay we will probably try another restaurant.
