“Nice Lighthouse Theme”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

This was a very nice hotel right off I-94 but only 10 minutes from the beach in St. Joseph. I enjoyed the Lighthouse theme that was throughout the hotel. Our family suite worked perfect for our family of 5 and our friends got a loft suite for their family of 4. Both were nice size rooms. The breakfast was very nice in the morning and had a good variety.

Room Tip: Family suite great for kids and roomy.

I booked the family kids suite for two nights for all of us ( 8 all together) 5 kids, ages 7, 6, the twins (3) and a one year old. This was the perfect room. With senior discount, it was only $159 a night. It was a room and a half. Two queen beds, a loveseat sleeper, and the half room had bunk bed w trinkle on bottom. The 6, and 7 year olds slept in bunk bed. The sleeper was just the right size for twins, and the adults got the queen beds. We had a big hot breakfast buffet each morning, and the pool and hot tub was good. We were only about 15 minutes from St. Joseph beaches. We went to Lions Park Beach and took lunch, then grilled out in evening. Downtown St. Joseph had Pirate Invasion, where the kids got to find 27 sculpted scallywags. Then in the afternoon went to Silver Beach, stayed until sunset. There is a parking charge of $8 to $10 at these parks, but what else could you do for that price all day. Very fun and reasonable vacation for all.

Room Tip: The family suites are on the third floor. The front desk did tell us when we checked in to not let...

I stayed here earlier this week with my wife and father-in-law on our way to northern Michigan. We were pleased with our room. It was clean, comfortable, and roomy. We arrived around 11 pm and they were very gracious in putting us in a room as far away from other guests as possible, as per my request. Breakfast was pretty good. I liked the waffle maker that made 4 small waffles at a time.

You won't find a better hotel in the area, it seems new, the staff is great, the complimentary breakfast is great and well stocked at all times. Nice rooms, nice pool area, large breakfast area with a second adjoining room, too. We have no complaints about this place.
And Leslie at the front desk is probably the nicest, most professional hotel employee I've ever encountered. And she received a nice tip from me, too.
This hotel is less than 10 minutes from downtown St. Joseph.

My husband and I stayed here from 5/29/12 - 6/3/12 when we were in town for a wedding. All the staff were extremely helpful and very pleasent to deal with. We usually stay at Hampton Inns but after reading about the Hampton Inn across the street here on Trip Advisor, we decided to give this hotel a try. We were very pleased. The beds were very comfortable, pool and hot tub very clean and the breakfast was so good we ate there every day - very unusual for us. We would highly recommend this hotel!

I stayed here for only one night in January. This hotel is everything you want in a hotel. It is clean, the rooms are nice, the TV works and there are plenty of chanels, there is a good breakfast bar, the staff was really nice and friendly, they baked and served fresh cookies in the afternoon. It is pretty close to some decent restaurants, and the highway. You have to do some driving to get to any of the lakefront activities; however. Overall, I was really happy with my stay.

There are a lot of good things to say about the Comfort Suites in Stevensville but the many
First, this is a very clean hotel, probably one of the best Comfort Suites properties in the country. Yet there was old soap caked onto the shower ledge that should have been cleaned by housekeeping. Not rocket science.

The room was good with a couple of "What the ______ were they thinking?" execptions. The beds were comfortable. The shower had sufficient pressure and was one of the best shower heads I've ever used in a hotel. (Unfortunately there was a little residual smoke smell in the bathroom--yuk!) The bedding was hospital clean, if not better. The walls, floors, etc., were all clean. Room lighting was better than average. The main light switch was lighted itself, a nice plus. Flat screen TV.

Now for the not so good. First, what's with the tiny "Red Roof Inn" type of square table instead of a desk-like table with sufficient space to work. The wifi was good, the extra outlets a plus but having a 1980's style little table with two chairs is simply disingenuous with a moden property for business travelers. More space and one good office-style chair would be better (there's a loveseat type sofa in the room, so one of the side chairs could go).

The real pain was the erratic refrigerator in the room. It was warm inside when we checked in. OK, sometimes you have to turn up the control dial in hotel room refrigerators -- I get that -- but this one had a dial plate that was broken and no instructions. I called down to the front desk and got someone whose English was hard to understand and she was of utterly no help, mentioning something about an automatic defrost cycle which, again, was hard to understand.

One reason we chose this hotel was the fact that it had a refrigerator in the room. We have special diet food that needs to be kept cold and this unit was simply unreliable. We need things to work as they should 100% of the time as business travelers. You can't keep food cold and frozen foods frozen when a refrigerator and freezer isn't working as it should plus the desk clerk I spoke to was of no help, period. Fortunately we had a little cooler in the car so we were able to keep everything cold rather than try to sleep wondering if the refrigerator is actually working. This is inexcusable, period. It either works or it doesn't and the staff is either helpful or not. Here both failed.

The "hot" breakfast was a little bit chaotic and the "hot" was more like "lukewarm" at best but the attendant was friendly and did her best to replenish food that was running empty.

I would not say "never again" to this place but it would take so little to get things right.

Checkin, btw, was friendly and informative.
